I've made about 25k Gold tailoring by doing just one thing : making and selling royal moon shroud robes. I found the recipe on the AH for 1.5k G and sell about three or four a week at a 2.2k G buyout. I'm a moon shroud tailor so I get double the cloth for the mats. Mats generally cost between 1.5-1.8k G depending on the cost of the mats. Still, it's a couple hundred gold steady per day and takes like no time. Earned enough to by three of my toons their ICC boots.

The key is finding a niche that no one else is doing or maybe one or two are doing.
