It's been a little while since we've heard from the enigmatic Wowcrendor, but it looks like the maestro of narrative parody is back with How to win at PUGs and GearScore. This video is a return to his classic form, even featuring that everyman named Billy. Wowcrendor takes Billy on a tour of your average PUG member, right down to that guy who keeps screaming "Go go go go go."
How to win at PUGs and GearScore doesn't actually spend very long talking about GearScore, but it does throw in a mention of the Celestial Steed. I'm defintiely glad this video came out before Cataclysm. It'll be nice to bookmark this summary of PUG life to compare it in the next expansion. While I'm not naive enough to think things will change radically, I am still hopefully that new designs and instances will make your average PUG at least slightly friendlier.

Didn't mention the low dps player with inaccurate recount who calls out everyone else as having purchased accounts on ebay. That happened just the other day in a PuG (Utgarde Keep).
Frost Mage - Hey Huntar(sic), did you buy your character off ebay? Your dps is way low for your GS. Hunter - ??? No. Tank - My dps is low, you got a problem with me too? Mage - nah ur fine, it's just the overpowered Huntar should be at the top of my recount list and it shows I'm blowing away everyone. Tree - I'm a GL and I can tell you right now Mage, that your recount data is way off. I'm running it also and it paints a different picture. Mage - My data off? No ways........this Huntar just blows Paladin(Me) - Leave the damn recount for raids........ Tree - /leave *Priest joins group Mage - Healer sucked anyways. Hunter - WTF is your problem mage? You think you're special? Mage - Don't know about you but I'm a dps superstar! Paladin - Hey superstar, could you please spellsteal the bubbles off these vrykul? I don't feel like swinging this axe all day. Mage - ..................................... [titanium lockbox drops off trash] all roll greed except one, guess who? Mage twiddles thumbs and stands in that same spot until we are almost to last boss Tank - /votekick Mage *Rogue has joined your group Rogue - easiest frost emblems ever!
As a healer, I've only had one instance where the tank and the DPS attacked the instance so fast and so horribly (doing *nothing* to avoid damage at all) that my mana did run out. I stopped to regen, but they didn't stop moving. When they engaged the next group, I said, "Your healer's oom. Be there soon. Good luck." They did survive, but it was close. They got the message though.
Like PsychoTank - The tank that is actually trying to get people killed.Shadowmelds after after chain pulling. Turns Anub'arak towards the group every time the pound cast bar pops up.
I have done PuGs with all these types...sad too, but have also had some great PuG experiences as well. I am a restro shammy, and depending upon GS, mine is 5.7+, I have to slow down or heal more. Only one time I had a high GS group, and we raced through a DTK, and I actually got to do some DPS, rather than heal everyone. And the comment on the bad healer, when you are healing to the best of your ability...makes me wanna slap the ones saying it, since, in most cases, they have NEVER been a healer. Great video!!!
There's also the Leroy Jenkins wannabes that wait until just the right time to strike and make the whole group miserable, and then they leave, thinking it's the funniest thing ever that they did.
Only happened to me once, but boy did it leave a lasting impression. If I ever see these guys again, I'm immediately informing the rest of the group.
I don't usually like Wowcrendor - just not my type o' funny - but man, this was priceless. Particularly the "Go go go" guy, since I've been leveling with a RAF buddy. He is tanking on his very first toon and finds himself frustrated to tears when he's trying to run at the speed he feels he can safely handle (Mana Tombs arrrrgh), and instead of being grateful that we're not wiping, all the DPSers freak out and start pulling for him. The GOOD part is that I'm a holy pally, and don't neeeed to throw them heals ... and then they can be the the Arrogant Corpse as long as they please. I don't mind! =D
Great approach to the gogogogogo problem, yep. A friend of mine has leveled a warrior as a tank in randoms, and he has a thumb rule: "if you pull it, you tank it". No taunting off ninja-pullers.
"The guy that out gears the tank and pulls threat then blames tank."
I've got an alt that that is a tank. He is in mostly ilvl200 gear from heroic dungeons. And I get dps that out gear me by a huge margin and pull threat off of me then blame me. On my main I always apologize for pulling threat off the tank. As dps its YOUR responsibility to watch your threat.
Had that happen to me yesterday on my 4.8k gs Paladin tank. Two Kingslayer DKs with 6.2k gearscores were Icy Touching before I manage to even place my consecrate and continue to pull threat off me as much as I try to taunt and generate threat. They both subsequently started yelling at me for being a horribad tank even though nobody ended up dying in cases like that, thankfully, despite my wish they had died for being idiots and not knowing how to time their attacks and tone their DPS down accordingly. I put them on /ignore and kept going my way.
Over geared people are why I didn't queue as a tank. I had 540 defense, gems and enchants, 24k health unbuffed, and some low ilvl items. I received sneers and jeers just standing around in Dalaran. Random people "oh look how cute, a wannabe tank". I'm not looking to tank the Lich King, I just wanted to do something other than always be in a race with other DPS.
I've often wondered why such over geared people run in randoms. My guess is either they live to rub other people's noses in their GS, or their own guild cannot tolerate them.

That video pretty much sums up the whole experience.
That's pretty much an average day in the LFD...
The scary thing is that there are worse things lurking in the depths of randoms... much worse...

Anyone else notice that the "Talker" sounded like the Community Service Guy from Family Guy and the Druid tank at the end sounded like Meatwad?
Galdrohk May 25th 2010 12:42PM
That's what I was thinking. "Oh noooooooo."
Luci May 25th 2010 1:12PM
HA! Noticed this yeah.

Haha, been a while since I actually laughed and not just giggled at a WoW movie. WoWcrendor ftw :P
