Oh, I forgot about void. Since The Great Dark Beyond is pretty much the only "voidy" place, it would explain why this element, if it exists, is not harnessed by the shamans - they can only harness the elements of the world they are in, and void would be in the space between the worlds, where Sargeras reigns supreme.
Now, shadow and void are not to be confused, IMO. And I wonder how shadow can be explained.
