And now for something completely different. The Windmills, They Spin! is a self-described adventure into oddity by ThemYoungHooligans over on YouTube. It's the creator's first attempt at a machinima. We can probably assume that the creator was experimenting with the technology, style and pacing that will influence his later works, since that's often how it goes for many people getting into machinima.
That being said, though, The Windmills, They Spin! is a pretty darn odd movie. The creator says that he was trying to bring some depth into Westfall, but I think the scenes were a little too disjointed and random to piece together hidden meaning in the landscape. It was certainly an interesting movie, though. At first, I thought I'd have to struggle to get all the way through it, but the duration still seemed to fly by. I don't know, I'm not sure what to make of it. Ultimately, I'd encourage the creator to keep making machinima, as I'm interested to see what will come next.

I just liked that it had no real point. The music was cool, and I kept watching thinking SOMETHING would happen, but it didn't, and then the credits rolled and I thought "cool, that was actually a pleasant couple of minutes."
Not reading French, you didn't know how bad the French really was. heh Yes, the last few frames the French and English are different. He just rambles about whether it's appropriate to go beyond a certain point.
Somewhere in his grave Bunol is disappointed that this vid wasn't weird enough.
I am aware of the terrible french. I have a friend who speaks very good french and offered to translate for me. I turned her down because it didn't add to the film. :P

I have a horrible feeling that this might be a work of genius.

It was indeed weird and odd, but I love crap like that.
It was like some weird independent French film or something you'd see entered in some random film festival.
It was different, and while not for everyone, I really enjoyed it. I want to see more movies like this.

Nicely done, dyre42.
Overall this was a good flick, with a memorable finale.

Can't PUG, @$$clowns will kick me. . .

Well that was interesting.
For some reason I kept expecting it to skip to an incredibly loud orc rocking away to heavy metal.

Either this is a parody of your stereotypical "pretentious foreign art film", or it's so genius it would blow my mind to know what's really going on.
Toneslice May 26th 2010 12:54PM
This is indeed a parody of the normal 'Pretentious art film'.
icepyro May 26th 2010 2:53PM
Both. Trust me. Both.

I suspect there are comments hidden in the French. No way does "I think I should put some Bowie in the credits" take up three lines of French.
Not reading French, I cannot tell what they are.

I am french, and I can tell you the english text was completely something else ^^.
Even the french text wasn't real french.
