As above, always run back! There are actually quite a lot of dungeons with respawns, patrols (sometimes stealthed) or just a really confusing layout (meaning you can take a wrong turn and run into mobs).
On my first priest I was running back through Gnomeregan alone to res and was killed by a patrol. I asked for someone to help me and nobody would, after 15 minutes of arguing the group split up. Nowadays if I see any pats/respawns after zoning back in I tell the others to run back and give them about 20 seconds to release before dropping group. I would be surprised if there are many healers at 80 who think differently.
