As a courtesy to healers, when I'm dpsing with my elemental shaman (or any class that can rez), I will rez people at the end of combat. I always have more mana than the healer, so generally I will rez and let the healer drink. Even if I don't have more mana, I care less if I'm oom than if the healer is.
Also, priority on rezzes for me is always: Healers > dps that can offheal/offtank > tank > dps that can buff > other nice dps > 0 > smartass annoyances we can continue without. The idea is to get the party up and going as quick as possible. Although if the tank is a DK, I will most likely rez them after dps because they have the greatest tendency to bandage and run ahead and don't provide buffs other than the horn.
As a self-rezzing class, I will announce my intention to do so. This is so it can be timed so I don't die instantly for whatever reason. Either the healer will have a moment to heal me or I will wait to have time to heal myself before jumping back into the thick of it. If it is a wipe, I may rez and rez others, but I will for sure drink before I start rezzing. Even if I can, I might save my cd and will run back with everyone else if we are close to the beginning or everyone released anyways.
Everyone almost always has more health and mana from running than any form of rezzing. The point is always to move forward quickly and if we're close enough to a GY that running back and buffing up is faster than rezzing and buffing up, then running should always be encouraged.

You're a shaman that rezs?
Can I bear your children? ;)
As a tree, I'm usually madly waving branches while the shammie is dragging his totems to *plunk* them down in front of the next boss...and sit and play Peggle while I'm still rezzing, rezzing...and innervating/drinking to be ready for the next round.
You, sir (or ma'am) are a rare and wonderful species

I will admit, I used to be a bad shaman. Then my guild said they needed healers, so I tried learning that. I've never looked at the game the same way again. Even though I'm able to raid as dps once more, I have learned how bad healing can be and how valuable help is.
So yes, I play a shaman that rezs. And uhm, I am a guy and I <3 trees. ;)
