If the question is, 'How did small imbalances turn into big ones during WotLK? ' then the answer is obvious, Wintergrasp. Blizz hasn't been unable or unwilling to make the changes necessary to even up the win ratios. On all these realms, one faction has been soaking in free honor and free wintergrasp marks, free stonekeeper shards, while the other faction starves. The people on the losing factions are aware that it's an easy ride on the other side of the server. Now that you can start a toon on both sides of a pvp server, most are re-rolling on their own server. I'm in the process of doing this myself, and have my toon in a leveling guild. The first thing people mention when they re-roll is how poorly their faction did at wg on their old server. The first thing people ask, "how do we do at wg here?". It's almost like Blizz wants imbalanced servers... If they don't want them, they certainly are to blame for making the problem worse.
