Choose the adventures of the WoW.com staff as we level our characters in <It came from the Blog> on US Zangarmarsh-H.
Matthew Rossi says he has stalled on his mage and would like the readers to choose his new class. We also need to know where to go at level 30, since Annephora is already there. But first, here's the remaining schedule for the week:
- Fox Van Allen as Foxlight, the blood elf paladin: Friday, 8 p.m. EDT
- Michael Gray as Grayfields, the tauren hunter, Adam Holisky as Adammentat, the tauren druid, and Gregg Reece as Yakkowakko, the orc warlock, will be making appearances as they can.
I've listed the zones for 30 to 35 questing along with
how much we think they will change in Cataclysm.
Where should we go after level 30? | 33 (0.4%) |
|---|
| Thousand Needles (heavy) | 1739 (23.6%) |
|---|
| Arathi Highlands (light) | 659 (8.9%) |
|---|
| Stranglethorn Vale (heavy) | 3363 (45.6%) |
|---|
| Alterac Mountains (light) | 296 (4.0%) |
|---|
| Desolace (moderate) | 1283 (17.4%) |
|---|
Rossi's poll is after the break.
Matt already has warrior, DK, shaman and paladin characters at or near max level.
What class should Matthew Rossi's new adventurer be?| Druid | 621 (18.5%) |
|---|
| Rogue | 486 (14.4%) |
|---|
| Hunter | 355 (10.6%) |
|---|
| Priest | 477 (14.2%) |
|---|
| Warlock | 250 (7.4%) |
|---|
| Don't reroll. Keep your mage, please! | 1175 (34.9%) |
|---|
Polls end on Sunday and results will be posted on Monday.

WARLOCKS ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pyro_818 May 28th 2010 4:17PM
Seriously, Mage for life, baby. Why would you play any other class?
Super Guest Man 9000 May 28th 2010 4:19PM
Man up Rossi! Play the mage!
Arednel May 28th 2010 4:21PM
^ this, sorry but I didn't realise how hard a mage was to level, at least you're not on your own. keep on plodding.
Hollow Leviathan May 28th 2010 4:31PM
I leveled a mage before my tankadin, you can to.
Kuro May 28th 2010 4:32PM
Matt already has "melee, melee, mixed melee, and melee..." characters at or near max level.
Go for the pure caster already. Keep on plodding, keep chowing down on those mana muffins.
ozreece77 May 28th 2010 4:59PM
Yeah, disappointing from Rossi. Thought a main tank would have a bit more resolve.
Harden the F.... up.
Grow a pair.
When the going gets tough the tough get going.
Mages get more fun the further you play (LIKE ALL CLASSES)

I have to agree with him i've played almost all clases (except lock) i was leveling a mage but i got really bored it wasnt all that interesting, i have to try the lock yet, but I think some classes simply may have no appeal for some people
MusedMoose May 28th 2010 5:20PM
While I love playing my mage, I have to disagree. Mr. Rossi has proven himself to be an animal lover and thus should be a HUNTER. A class so awesome it deserves capslock. ^_^
Beruza May 28th 2010 8:38PM
If you aren't having fun with the Mage, switch to Fire spec. What can be more fun than setting things on fire? Plus it has great AoE! Less survivability, but who cares? Just don't get hit!
bongato May 28th 2010 9:34PM
There was a column here not too long ago called something like "I suck at playing mage". Rossi should check it out, mages are a pain at low levels, but they do get better if you stick with it.
Also, like I said there, you gotta learn the art of running away.
Bronwyn May 28th 2010 10:19PM
If Archmage Pants can play a lock, you can play a mage!
Angus May 29th 2010 3:03AM
"Choose my adventure."
They chose something I hate.
"Re-choose my adventure!"
They made me stick with it...
Sorry Wolverine, we asked you to see the other half lives. Keep going, it will get better.
Urthona May 28th 2010 4:20PM
Druid, absolutely Mr. Rossi.
You have expert knowledge of working with the Rage mechanic, learning how2baredurid should come somewhat naturally as well as prove highly challenging.
Still, if you hated mage at 30 I can't guarantee you'll be able to handle a druid to 20.
Razortooth May 28th 2010 4:37PM
this ^
Druid to 20 is hell, and even to later levels. But by 40 you start getting some fun tools (as feral anyway).
