Presume the flooding of the Flats involved minimum disruption to the goblins and gnomes plans for self-extermination via high speeds - and they're now racing speedboats around the Shimmering Sea instead. No more deaths via cliff induced stoppage, or craters testament to unstable fuels used...
Mind you, water must feel like concrete if you hit it at the speeds they'll be planning to reach.

The water levels appear to be rising pretty fast everywhere. Thousand Needles, Southshore, and Tanaris are three zones suffering from flooding that I know of. Maybe the planet is heating up due to increased volcanic activity! Oh no! Azeroth is having a Permian Extinction!

I'm pretty sure they noticed that it's not very fun questing in dry, barren s***hole when you know you could be in a beautiful sparkly forest, so they're flooding, or doing similar things to (ie Naralex) those dry barren wastelands.
I mean:
-Desolace
-Barrens
-Thousand Needles
-Tanaris appears to be getting some water
-Blasted Lands
And I'm expecting them to do something to Sillithus too.

The thought of all those centaur, scorpions, and Silithid drowning under the waves fills me with glee.
Drakkenfyre May 29th 2010 8:06PM
They say "Desolace is flooded and green", but in reality only a spot in the middle is. The rest is the same.

I didn't mind questing in desert zones like the barrens or the blasted lands..
I found it quite fun and different from the normal deserts, barren places and things that are normally devoid of all life ((I live in a place that looks like a barrens look-a-like contest winner made love to a western shanty town)).
But i will shed a tear for all those npc's that die in the flooding...Except that fat bitch of a princess in mara...
She can drown while inhaling thousands of her elemental children, her barstard husband and then by falling through the ground and bending the laws of physics and everything we know onto the sharp Blade's Edge Mountains...Ohh and then get crapped on by a Gronn that just ate spicy gnome curry.
:)

It's the Shimmering Flats, and the boat is the former Mirage Raceway.
Muse May 29th 2010 12:44PM
Built from the structures at the Mirage Raceway. The hull is made of the spectator stands.

I want to know what or who is in the bottom left corner of the picture who is sleeping. Notice the "Zzzz"s coming from it.
Lauyia May 29th 2010 12:40PM
There's the better shots, finally

These screenshots is one good marketing strategy of blizzard...
NO ONE could resist buying cataclysm after seeing them. Man, I cant wait.

The Shimmering Flats Raceway is now The Shimmering Deeps Speedway. Inc, water mount races?
Jawn May 29th 2010 1:35PM
This screen shot shows what i like about Gnomes and Goblins: They see every change as a new opportunity. "Race track flooded by 100 ft of water? Hey, let's race boats now! Cool beans, woulda never thought about that!"
And off they go.
Deathknighty May 29th 2010 3:14PM
I'd say they have pretty different attitudes that cause them to thing like that: gnomes are optimistic, goblins are just opportunistic. :P
Squatstopee May 29th 2010 7:34PM
Goblins are oppurtunistic... And rich!
