For Gnomeregan! is where the members of <B.L.O.G.> on US Shadow Council roleplay guild meetings as part of an in-blog and in-game RP campaign. The rules for this campaign are: no ERP (Erotic RolePlay) and no vampires (though death knights are welcome). Everyone is invited to participate. Assume that to get into the guild, you at least pretended to be in full use of your faculties and are willing to fight for the cause. You are all welcome to join us here in the comments and those who wish to play with us in-game should friend Peenk or Kixi and ask for an invite on Shadow Council (US-A).
Kixi Sparklebolt presides over today's meeting.
Hey. My cousin, Peenk, has been trying to get barracks for us all, but so far has failed. She has found out
there are some practice skirmishes going on for Operation: Gnomeregan, but our guild has not been invited. Disappointing.
Anyway, I know that many of you just sleep at inns where you are working or training, but I also know that some of you have more consistent places to rest. Some of you even have homes. So while we wait for Peenk to sort through the red tape, I thought we could go around the room and state where you lay your heads at night, if you have room for your fellow trainees and whether you have suggestions for others.
Personally, I crash at the Ebon Hold when not training. But that's an exclusive club you have to be unalive to join. I don't recommend it for everyone. I imagine that if you could smell, the stench there would be overwhelming. Happily, I lost that sense when I also lost my healthy glow.
But I'm rambling. Somebody speak up please.
Please join us by telling us where your character calls home or something else of interest while staying in character. If you are new, why have you joined the army? All the World's a Stage is a great resource and this guest post by Anna is a must-read for making new characters.

Gampher May 29th 2010 4:38PM
Ol' Gampher Gyrolock here. If it spins around and locks down tight, not only does it have MY name on it, but if you're an engineer you've probably fastened a bolt or two using one! Why just the other day... oh... wait... You wanted to hear about housing!
My current training isn't allowing me much time in one place. Morning in Duskwood, Mid-day in Ashenvale, afternoon in Desolace.... Evenings at the Scarlet Monastery... I've had to pull in some of my mage-y connections, grab a friendly portal to Dalaran and renew my ties to the Kirin Tor.
Much of a mage's training involves rigorous study, and that means hitting the books! My current reading list is "Rituals of Power" by Magus Tirth, "Mythology of the Titans", and the "Book of the Ancients"... Alas, these books are scattered in various libraries and reading rooms all over Azeroth. No one resting place puts me near where I need to be to borrow them. Thanks to the magic of inter-city portals, and my new home at "A Hero's Welcome" in Dalaran I can make quick runs to all the popular literary hang outs.
I know... Now you think Ol' Gampher has it easy. Two week's vacation in the south seas... Trips to the library... Well, it's not like that. First of all that "vacation" was spent fighting pirates, and these books, even the ones in libraries, are all held by nasty people up to no good. Lord Kragaru, a vicious, mean, and fishy-smelling, naga, checked out "Book of the Ancients" from the Azshara Public Library, and hasn't bothered to return it for 10,000 years (talk about library fees! I've been asked to KILL him for the book!).
The other two books are in the possession of the Scarlet Crusade, xenophobic nasties, who'd likely kill anyone not wearing their tabard in lieu of saying "hello" to them.
So, you see? I have to fight just to get my required reading in. Don't even think to ask about "The Green Hills of Stranglethorn".
Bobury May 29th 2010 4:49PM
I might have a book or two on that reading list at my house. Just stop on by if you want to check it out.
Bobury May 29th 2010 4:46PM
I always rest in my good old bed in Ironforge. I have storage for... some stuff... there. I have a full bookshelf of nice books. (Ask if you want to go through my collection) My personal favorite fact is that it is right next to the Mage Quarter. THough sometimes I cant make it back to my house in time, so I rush to the nearest inn. Ands that's really all I, Razzell, gnome mage, has to say. Oh, and drop by whenever you like.

Thank you again for your hospitality after the combat evaluations. It was most appreciated.

From the journal of Phylimia
It has been quite a busy time since my last journal entry. I have been all over the place, helping a near limitless amount of people in need, honing skills, and killing practically anything that moves, it seems. I'm still within easy traveling distance to Stormwind, so that's where I rest when I'm not out trying to save Azeroth from itself. As far as anything interesting happening lately, well one incident stands out.
The other day, I was in Stanglethorn Vale, helping a dwarf named Hemet Nesingwary slaughter several scores of various animals for his little hunting party. I mean really, how many raptors and cats does that sawed off little runt actually need to decalre himself a hunter? I digress. While stalking a Shadowmaw panther, I stumbled into the path of a horde shaman, a Troll who calls himself Tol'shin. Since we grew tired of trying to hunt an animal that we could almost never see, we took a break and had a polite, if guarded conversation about the spirits, and what they had in store for us. It seems the desire to retake lost homes is contagious. The horde is preparing to retake some islands pocessed by an evil presence. At least I think that what he said. My Orcish is very rusty, and the language seems to have changed quite a bit since the orcs left Draenor. Anyway, we parted, and got back to hunting cats that do not seem to exist. I bet Hemet did this as a joke. Until next time....

Wodfres here.
While I don't usually consort with gnomes except for meals, I thought I should come around here and say my part. You see, my father, Rodfres, he was a chef sanspareil. He could make anything out of anything, and it tasted great! That is, until our whole family was killed by the plague.
Now? I follow in his footsteps, but I've been trying something different. Cooking is all fine and dandy, but you eventually run out of different meats. But, I have found a solution. Sentients! Gnomes, humans, zombies, orcs, night elves, blood elves, and all the like, as well as the best of the best: female dwarf (it is also the rarest of meats).
Anyways, my current place of retreat after a hearty meal is my coffin. I just snuggle into the creaking wood, kiss my cockroach goodnight and dream of butchering bunny rabbits.

Aidain-
I tend not to stay in one particular place frequently, but I do like to visit Ebon Hold. We should connect some time. That would be fun! Think of all the things we could do together...
Scritch May 29th 2010 6:49PM
*The female gnome stands with the help of her cane, and waves a linen-bandage covered hand at the group. She wears a simple set of dark robes that seem to have a few runes embroidered into the hems. Her head is wrapped up in linen bandages as well, only one of her green eyes is visible. Basically, any flesh that would otherwise be visible, is wrapped in linen bandages that seem to be somewhat fresh.*
Thrii FelTouch here. It's good to see so many friends here, helping. I currently sleep in Stormwind's Trade district. There is a large stack of crates there that protects me from most of the wind, and I have a netherweave bag that makes a suitable sleeping bag for now. I'm studying the various plant species in the area, and have found several different new specimens that have proven a great help in my search to find a cure for those of our people who suffered from the diseases...when the attacks happened.
*she leans on the cane gently, to catch her breath. She appears to be young, but with the energy of an elderly gnome*
I have also been asked to research two other possible curatives for issues that have been brought to my attention.
A dwarf recently sought out my help..at first I thought he was one of the walking dead that attack our cities--but he was one of the recently freed Death Knights...and he has asked me to find a cure to ...the curse of his undeath, I suppose.
The last situation seems most worrying. I was commissioned by a human soldier to investigate a castle in Silverpine Forest. I went with a small incursion of adventurers also commissioned and I discovered something terrible. Humans...with some type of disease.
*she seems visibly afraid for a moment. She swallows the lump in her throat and continues*
They changed ...bones snapping, skeletal structures reshaping...patches of fur...They resembled upright beasts with rage in their hearts. We barely made it out alive. I am studying one of the corpses with my mentor, but when the creatures die, they do not retain this horrid shape. I am afraid, we may have a problem...
First and foremost, I have vowed to find a cure for my people, but it seems there are many things wrong--and they all require attention of sorts. I would be lying if I said I was not terrified.
I am not sure sleeping out in the open will be a viable option soon...
*she sits back down, exhausted. A small green imp holds her linen-wrapped hand gently, as if comforting her.*

(A dwarf Death Knight teeters into your view, bashing its helmet into a wall. It's clearly drunk and mumbling incoherently. The knight removes the helmet and reveals it's a female dwarf, a sight rarely seen in Azeroth. She wobbles and then barks something rude in Dwarven at you.).

Combat Log - Entry 3
I finally recovered from my...chilling experience last week. It's not something I want to repeat again soon. The only thing worse than being trained by a cocky gnome is being waited on by one. I like gnomes, I really do, but they have good ones and bad ones just like every other race, and I think I've met all of the smartasses in one week.
Anyway, I'm still training. They've started sending me to other places. I headed to a place called Loch Modan this week. It's beautiful here, very green. Reminds me a bit of Elwynn with fewer trees, and of course the dwarven structures.
I stay where I'm training for the most part. There's a nice little inn at Loch Modan, and they've deemed me old enough and strong enough to drink with them. The dwarven brew does at least take the edge off of the day.
A day or two out of the week, they'll plop me on a gryphon and send me back to Ironforge to check in with the mage trainers there about honing my skills even more.
Ah, I hear some hearty laughter downstairs. Time to go down and "keep my feet on the ground." Ha.

I am confused - what is the purpose / goal / raison d'etre of For Gnomeregan? Is it an RP space on wow.com? Seriously NOT trolling here. My forsaken maybe had its memory wiped after leaving the scourge, i dunno.
Robin Torres May 29th 2010 9:40PM
Perhaps I need to rewrite the first paragraph in italics. Yes it's a weekly RP meeting for the meta-guild B.L.O.G. We have a presence on Shadow Council, but anyone is invited to participate here in the comments.
Would you mind telling me what part of the intro is confusing so that I can adjust it? Thank you :)
Gampher May 29th 2010 9:58PM
OOC: Roll an Alliance toon on Shadow Council-A and join the fun. Seriously... These are just our weekly "meetings".
Look kid, Either you're fighting to save Gnomeregan, or you need to be somewhere else. There's plenty of room over on the Horde for folks who don't like gnomes, or want to eat us, or like punting us, and that sort of thing.
Snurdred May 29th 2010 11:03PM
Cor, blimey, Gampher! Oi'll save Gnomeregan so's Oi kin punt yer arse out'n Ironforge!
N' Kixi? Dunno 'bout you but this Relivin' dunna sleep atall atall . . . not 'til we get these bloody gnomes out'n Ironforge.
Matthew May 29th 2010 11:11PM
Hi Robin,
Thanks. I reread it a few times, and I understand it now. I think stating in italics that 'this column is role-play space or out of character space' would make it even more clear. I don't RP much, so when I see roleplay I tend not to think of it as a verb. I was partially thinking before that its an article that talks *about* roleplay rather than doing it. (and to be honest, since I don't rp much I am not mentally set-up to view things on wow.com to engender this - thank you for opening my horizons)
Thank you,
Matthew

So? You're wondering where I lay our head at night... I have traveled all over the Eastern Kingdom and Kalimdor... but at the end of the day home has been a room at the inn in Ironforge. It is rather convenient to stay in Ironforge so I can travel to and from my various assignments with relative ease. I look forward to the day when I can move from there to a space in Gnomergan.
I keep my wardrobe and various items for my tailoring business and enchanting needs. On my night table I keep 3 things, a picture of my family in Gnomergan, my warlock handbook (how to train your minion) and my communicator.
Marita May 30th 2010 12:32AM
The last time before today I slept in a nice bed, was last Monday when I got back to Ironforge for business, and visited my family for the night.
But when I get back to training, I just sleep wherever the night finds me.
I don't have a tent, so it's kind of uncomfortable. But my beloved bear companion, Thorbjörn, likes to sleep with me, so I enjoy some warm at least.
But sleeping with a bear almost every night makes me enjoy the chances I get to take a bath.
Mom almost screamed that day. She was going to give me a welcoming hug, when suddenly she stopped, and said: "Oh my! Milenka! Go get a shower, you smell worst than your grandfather!" She kept talking, but to keep my peace of mind, I stopped listening and proceeded to enjoy the benefits of civilization.
Happy enjoying my warm bed,
Milenka.

Oh I had a home alright... A majestic underground metropolis in the foothills of Dun Morogh. D'you know it?
Gnomes these days... too easily distracted, that's yer problem... Why, back in my day we knew how to stay focused on the tasks at hand... AND THERE WERE SEVEN OF THEM! Now you're all too obsessed with yer "Witch Kings" and "GearScore's" and "gearblaster mechaPods" to get anything done... *grumble*
Now if you need me I'll be over here... apparently talking to myself... *limps away, muttering bitterly*

Quite of topic here and *SPOILER* but about the Gnome priest: I saw some PTR screenies and there is a Doc Cogspin..? (well, some name) and her title is General surgeon or something. Is that a nod to them been able to become priest, being actually physicians. does make sense. Has someone played the quest on the PTR??.
I think so, given that the Trolls meet their druidis ways in their quest too.
