Sunday Morning Funnies: Bears for literacy
It's almost June, but where I'm living, it's been feeling like late July. I hope everyone has been out enjoying the weather, especially during this pre-Cataclysm slump. Before you head out today for your picnic, BBQ, walk in the park, or afternoon raid, SMF has quite a sizable list of comics for your enjoyment. We even have two brand-spanking new-to-the-list comics this week, thanks to a couple of tipsters. Don't forget to make suggestions for comic inclusions in the comment section!
This week's discussion topic is a free-for-all. Talk about your favorite character, an artist's shading technique, suggest a future discussion topic, or whatever else is on your mind.

/cringe at the Foxtrot comic.
Sometimes the media makes me more sad than usual. Would it have killed them to use WoW's actual name?
Kylenne May 30th 2010 9:40AM
Ha ha! Don't you see? WoW players can't tell fantasy from reality! Ha ha ha! Isn't that HILARIOUS? And a TOTALLY original idea?! LOL!
-_-
(And now I'm reminded why I don't read newspaper comics since the Boondocks ended.)

"Sometimes the media makes me more sad than usual. Would it have killed them to use WoW's actual name?"
Bill Amend has been calling it World of Warquest for 5 or 6 years.
It might be due to copyright or in the land of Foxtrot that's what the game is called.

@Kylenne: Actually Bill Amend is pretty much a geek. He's been making WoW references as Warquest for years, and that's his choice. He also made up a Diablo pastiche, though the name escapes me but I do remember the strip mini-arc being how Paige got into the Beta for that DII-clone. He's also referred to Myst as Iron Mysticus I think, at some point; as well as its original name but can't remember which came first.
Personally, I don't see the problem. Sometimes people can't tell preference from offense, and it's not hilarious, and most certainly not an original thought of general public.

Why does it matter anyway? Oh hey, it's not World of Warcraft, ME MAD RAWR!!!!111one
That strip might've not had the best joke of all time but it's still enjoyable, so why the anger?
VelcroLizard May 30th 2010 11:48AM
@Kylene: It's just Peter that can't seperate fantasy from reality.
Pablo May 30th 2010 3:01PM
The Diablo pastiche was called Rivablo: at the time, Riven was as hyped and expected as Diablo II, if you can believe that. Yeah, Amend rules.

I like Out Of World. Except the Draenei in the bunny costume, which may stay with me for some time...
ladyaxolotl May 30th 2010 11:49AM
Yeah... That was sorta my fault... Happens a lot when I draw draenei.
Sorry for the nightmares? ;)
devilsei May 30th 2010 10:45PM
Glad I'm not the only one slightly scared of that...
and at the same time, in the right angles... so hawt...
And I'm already claiming the human pally as my favorite, he's almost like an even crazier Brock Sampson...

Haha, silly... that bear has horns!
Bears don't have horns... well, unless you play Ho--oo--oooh dear.

Did you see the "Orgrimmar Public Library" in "Travels with Tenthunders"?
It has fiction, and non-fiction.
One book each.
That was funny.

My website is currently down. This makes the 17th time (at least that I am aware) that my website has been down in under 3 months. Needless to say, I am A) pissed off and B) going to be moving my site as soon as I can afford to.
I sincerely apologize to my fans. This is embarrassing to say the least.
A trouble ticket has been submitted and hopefully the site will be back up within the hour.
Drakkenfyre May 30th 2010 3:53PM
May I recommend HostGator? They may have a pricing plan which is affordable balanced with reliability that a public webcomic needs.
Tokkar May 30th 2010 4:24PM
I was looking at them as well. For the immediate future, I'm going to see about a free hosting service I just found and then migrate over to the new server once I have the money for it (right now, I'm strapped - story of most artist's lives, eh?) - thanks for the suggestion!
Pocket May 30th 2010 5:32PM
I use ComicDish. Free and comic specific. Also ad free.
Tokkar May 30th 2010 7:36PM
I'll have to check them out! Thanks!
Also, the site's back up...for now...uncertain for how LONG the site will be up this time...
