To even suggest that he return 6K gold is crazy. This is a pretty clear-cut case of an item that the writer was just plain lucky to get, and he shouldn't be expected to surrender that windfall to another person, just because "he's a guildy". He should keep the money, inform the officers that this was a private transaction that was mutually satisfactory, and that the subject is closed. There is a *limit* to how intrusive officers can be, and this goes over the line. If the officers press the point, then he should look for another guild. If the officers are going to give him crap over this, where else will they expect him to just give something away?
