Regarding the battered hilt issue, I had a similar issue with a former guild where the GM demoted me from the raiding team. One of my guild mates asked me to enchant a piece of gear. After completing the enchant he asked me in guild chat what I wanted for the mats used to do the enchant. I responded the AH value was 20 gold.
He opened a chat window and paid me 40. I responded in guild chat "Thank you". Momentarily, the GM whispered me her displeasure that I had charged another guild member for doing an enchant. I attempted to explain that I had not asked for or expected compensation and had in fact done so with my own mats. However, she banned me from the raiding team until "my behavior improved". I found another guild.
My lesson learned, keep any discussion about compensation out of guild chat. It generally is not a good idea to do business with guild mates. I will enchant for guild mates as a courtesy, They need to furnish their own mats.
I've since started using a lowbie alt to post on the auction house.
