Is it weird that I'd rather wait for Ruby Sanctum in order to get to Operation: Gnomeregan first?

Not weird at all.

Ruby Sanctum will be cool ONCE (although it'd be cooler if there was finally an ICC 25-level DPS gun, as opposed to tanking guns, but nope).

Gnomeregan/Echo Isles is a chance to participate in the game world permanently changing and thus, is much more of a big deal.
