You learn very little about how to raid as shadow in heroics (especially todays heroics). You won't get close to what a raiding shadow priest does except in the ICC-5 mans bosses and then only barely. Other heroics teach you at best how to multi-dot and mind sear so you can pad damage meters on trash (my best attempt is currently 18k DPS, trying to push to 20k).

Doing top DPS as a shadow priest requires knowing how to juggle your casts when you reach the 3+ minute point of a fight (generally when the varying cool downs and up times have shifted significantly from your standard "rotation").
