The
Remote Auction House's beta testing has come to a close this evening and is now officially a live, paid-only service. For $2.99 every 30 days, you can buy, sell and trade from anywhere in the world via browser or iPhone. Well, anywhere that you have an internet connection. While non-paying users can still view the auction house, only subscribers can actually do business via the Remote Auction House. Check the official Remote Auction House page for
a breakdown of the differences between free and paid users.
Do note that this subscription fee is
only for the Remote Auction House. Every player can still use the auction house in-game as a part of their usual $15/month. If you're interested in ponying up the $2.99/month but didn't get a chance to try out the app during the testing phase, you can check out our galleries below for a little preview of the service.

"Every player can still use the auction house in-game as a part of their usual $15/month"
The sad part is that probably needed to be said.

Here's what I'd rather pay for: mobile auction house....in game. Yes I have an army of bank Alts...but I'd rather be able to keep tabs on my markets/look for some deals while I'm on my main, wiping on heroic Prof.

went to claim gold and realized this
Vogie Jun 8th 2010 10:41AM
Me too.
There's nothing more annoying then being unable to sleep as my wife watches friends AND can't get the gold off of my bank alt
Especially knowing the GOOD NEWS EVERYONE - I've discovered a plague that will destroy your entire server!

i tried it out since I had the armory app already and it came in an update. i used it once. I'll be keeping my $2.99 a month.

I wouldn't mind an official Armor app from Blizzard, but alas, they seem to hate the Android Marketplace.
If we're lucky, Apple will get a stick up their butt and decided to remove it just because, like they did with "widgety" apps.
SaintStryfe Jun 7th 2010 10:46PM
wow, unwarranted apple hate ho!
Let's put it simple: Developing for iOS is really, really simple, especially when they have talented Apple programers all ready for their mac versions. They also have a full development platform and distribution network which makes it very simple to handle.
But more likely, they just have chosen the biggest market first. I am sure they'll develop for the Android OS and others soon. Blizz isn't stupid.

Yeah, I considered getting an iPhone just for this app, but man, Apple's really turning me off of late.

Likewise. Not nearly enough useful features.
1) No history of past auctions.
2) At least during beta I couldn't post multiples of things such as bags that don't stack.
3) No auto fill of past pricing even if I just posted an auction for the same item.
There are a few more things I didn't like, but those are my top three. I'll use my $2.99 for something more fulfilling. Like a six pack of Dew.
Mr. Tastix Jun 7th 2010 10:53PM
A six-pack costs $2.99? Goddamn, I want in on some of that. >.>
Oriflame Jun 7th 2010 11:11PM
yeah, if I could do even 80% of what I can do in game with addons, I'd be a little more enchanted.
Also, the darn thing was super slow - but that may have just been the PC i was using to check it out.
kooda Jun 8th 2010 2:57AM
The closest place i can get dew in the uk sells it for £1.50 a can, i like dew. ALOT

I was really loving this thing!! I usually have 200 auctions at the same time.. it's a real pain in the ass to collect that kind of gold from the mail bag.. also, I hate logging in with my farmer, my pc is slow and it's a bother, I went everyday to the website, got my gold, sold and logged in with my main if needed.. it's really awesome for us dedicated farmers, so I'm getting this thing for sure!

I don't think I could cope with using the iphone app for my AH stuff... opened my AH alt's mailbox in-game earlier to empty it "There are 568 messages still unread" or words to that effect. That's not all that unusual for me so my poor little iphone would probably melt :/
Samual Barshow Jun 7th 2010 10:51PM
Really now, where's the android beta or better yet where's the android appp. M/onths after and buggy. Weak sauce.
Anwin Jun 7th 2010 10:51PM
I see what you're saying. I'm just bitter. :P
Also, though I'm not an anti-Apple hater, I don't particularly like the company's practices. From what I read, they recently removed all "widgety" apps from their store without any prior notice. So apps that were previously approved are abruptly removed and developers were blatantly disrespected. Allegedly it's because Apple plans to have their own widget service and don't want third-party developers stealing their thunder. Understandable, but still.
Aaaand I suppose this is beside the point of this news post anyways.
Anwin Jun 7th 2010 10:52PM
OOoh reply fail.
TR Jun 8th 2010 4:30AM
Not all that surprising. Apple's been doing stuff like this since the 80's. Back then they even tried suing a couple of other software companies for using a GUI claiming "clicking and dragging windows" was infringing on their copyright. Instead of the App Store it was America OnLine; the only place you could get freeware or shareware after being reviewed by Apple. Sometimes popular apps would suddenly be pulled and a few weeks later Apple would come out with their own version. They actually used to be the "bad guys" for a while
The joke back then was that there were two ways knew someone had written a good app: Either Microsoft assimilated them or Apple sued them.

Umm, it is on the Android. As of today. I have it installed on my Incredible right now.
