Not all that surprising. Apple's been doing stuff like this since the 80's. Back then they even tried suing a couple of other software companies for using a GUI claiming "clicking and dragging windows" was infringing on their copyright. Instead of the App Store it was America OnLine; the only place you could get freeware or shareware after being reviewed by Apple. Sometimes popular apps would suddenly be pulled and a few weeks later Apple would come out with their own version. They actually used to be the "bad guys" for a while
The joke back then was that there were two ways knew someone had written a good app: Either Microsoft assimilated them or Apple sued them.
