It blows my mind how quick a player will flame healers or tanks. I know I got berated once for using 10min pally buffs in a heroic. All I can think is, "Umm yeah I'm tanking and didn't have to wait 20min for this group so keep it up bub"
6-08-2010 @ 8:47AM
So the DPS should simply be grateful that you decided to put them out of their queue misery, regardless of how lazy or entitled you happen to feel today?Symbol of Kings is not expensive. Cough up.

Like I said there are a lot of factors cost of reagents isn't really one, like i said in my post i was trying to blow the guy off:1) If for some reason I have to change specs, group buffs get dropped. I have to rebuff everyone, it happens sometimes even when you loose a dps in a group. We get a tank and I have to switch to Ret.2) Usually I am the only pally and people want different buffs. So Class buffs don't work3) There are only 4 other people that need buffed. I don't have a large mana pool to start a tankadin.Blessing of kings costs 6% base mana x5 players thats 30% base mana.Greater Blessing costs 12% base mana x7 classes thats 60% base mana.I am trying to get things moving it's only a heroic. I can make the first pull with 70% mana going in under 50% is risky. So now i have to stop an drink when otherwise I could have begun pulling.4) Granted I have to rebuff people as we go, but i find that I can spot buff individuals people between mobs effectively keeping everyone buffed with no downtime only using 6% base mana in between pulls.5) IT'S THE SAME BUFF. As long as i keep it up on everyone in the group you are getting 10% increase to stats regardless so who cares. This does not make me a noob or crappy player. So there are plenty of reasons for me to not using greater blessings in heroics. NONE of them have to do with how much the symbols cost. So Even if there was no reagent I would still use 10min buff and with good reason. But you knew all this already cause you play a Pally right?
6-08-2010 @ 9:18AM
I do play a pally, actually. A tank.Seriously, you're complaining about mana usage for a buff that you want to put out multiple times? Just give everyone their Greater buff, drink something (which takes all of 5 seconds, with our tiny mana pools), and go.This is my problem with LFG tanks. You get into the mindset that you're so valuable that no one should ever disagree with you, or challenge how you do anything.
6-08-2010 @ 9:41AM
I was justifying my personal reason for using blessing instead of greater blessing after you assumed I was being cheap (you know what happens when you assume). I have no problem with people using greater blessings in pugs. And ironically you seem to be saying I have to agree with your way of buffing heroic pugs. So who's the player here that thinks everyone should agree with them :)
6-08-2010 @ 9:44AM
@ SunGod228 Yes, my main is a tankadin, and I've been tanking dungeons for most of this expansion. And sorry I've never heard such ridiculous nonsense. After zoning into a heroic I buff myself with Sanctuary and SoComm, then I buff x4 greater Kings, and occasionaly someone asks for Might which they get a greater blessing again. And I then still have enough mana to start the pull and not look back.Buffing 10min blessings is cheap, and invariably they are forgotten to be rebuffed. I dont have a problem with 30min fortitudes or motw's, but 10min blessings are just plain annoying.

Are we arguing about buffs in heroics?
The only time I use ten minute paladin buffs is this scenario: End of dungeon wipes on last trash or final boss. Unless the dungeon is seconds from being finished, I'd rather have the peace of mind that everyone is buffed and will remain so for the duration. If you are constantly refreshing those ten minute buffs during the run, that creates just as much downtime due to mana loss. Probably even more downtime as you are clicking group members to check buff durations, and they tend to run out during fights. Also, Glyph of Blessing of Kings, a minor glyph, reduces mana cost of the most used buff.As far as mana recovery.............level cooking? I catch fish in Northrend and cook them up, they give both health and mana, and are very cheap since you catch them yourself. Sauteed Goby, Smoked Rockfin, Grilled Bonescale. None of those require Northrend spices, interfere with other food buffs, or have difficult to find base ingredients. Any of those foods I listed will have a tank Paladin back to full mana in the blink of an eye.

I use greater blessings on my paladin tank...
6-08-2010 @ 10:06AM
@SinfulYeah I dont remember offhand what glyphs I have on my tank spec. But that is an excellent point. But I do use pally power so I always know how much time is left on everyone's buffs without having to click on players. Between that and being able to click players in pally power to rebuff or pressing comma to rebuff the player in range with the shortest duration reamining maybe that's why it doesn't seem like a big deal to me to use 10min. idk.
6-08-2010 @ 10:45AM
It's a problem by association. Most people who use 10 minute buffs are cheap, always forget to rebuff, usually use the wrong buffs and generally make running an instance just a bit annoying, however you sound like a pretty on the ball guy who can actually keep on top of the situation.Think of it like DPS death grip. Most people who do it are idiots and therefore it becomes ingrained in people's mind as the act of an idiot, however some top notch players are able to use it effectively and save the group (i.e. pulling mobs of healers and back into tanks range, etc). A lot of people will still think of them as idiots though just because they're too used to bad players misusing the spell.
6-08-2010 @ 11:09AM
Zzzzzzz~It always amazes me that dps can instantly notice if they are missing a buff for even half a second, but can't move out of fire in the entire time it takes for their health bar to burn down. I'll buff you with the 30 minute might/kings/wisdom/whatever just so I don't have to see my screen filled up with MIGHT PLZ KINGS PLZ WIZ PLZ every nine minutes thirty seconds.
6-08-2010 @ 11:22AM
I agree with sun, personally, I use greaters to buff and drink a couple seconds to regain mana before the pull so i dont have to buff as often, but if he wants to do short buffs and makes sure they stay up, whats the difference to people getting them? Nothing, exact same buff as far as the people on the receiving end are concerned.
6-08-2010 @ 11:36AM
gonna have to agree with sungod228.whats the difference whether he buffs the big one or does his 10 minute one. if he's keeping it up then who cares. its not like you get to keep the buff after you finish the instance.pretty sure all you people whining about something as simple as this, are the people this whole post is about.step back and look what you are argueing about for a sec. /facepalm
6-08-2010 @ 11:52AM
I don't care if you use a 10 minute buff. I do it myself sometimes. If there's another paladin in the group, and I'm not sure what you're going to buff, I'll use the 10 minute versions so they don't overlap by accident. Or maybe I forgot to restock at some point. Or maybe I just think there's good odds somebody will up and leave during the instance...heroic Oculus I'm looking at you. Or I'm worried there will be a wipe, Heroic HoR has this written over it.Sorry if you think I'm cheap, me, I'm just not bothered enough by your opinion to care.
6-08-2010 @ 1:57PM
I agree with you, SunGod228Ironic, isn't it, that on a topic about 'l33t j3rks' you get one that presents his 'holier than thou' attitude. Gettin' all douche-y about the time-span of a buff? Get real.Remember, it's a game people. Please remain calm.
7-30-2010 @ 10:59AM
dude, just buy the stupid reagent, put up the buff, and use that mana regen skill(name eludes me like a rogue) that gives like 25% over 20 sec and get the prot talent that makes every melee hit replenish the buff duration! not hard! and like J said, not expensive at all, i keep 4 stacks on both my pallies at all times, just in case.
6-08-2010 @ 8:27PM
I don't care if it's the 10min or 30min buff, as long as it's up. My biggest gripe is when I zone into the dungeon on my pally, and the tank has already started pulling trash, and I don't even have time to cast ANY blessing. It's not unusual to be in dungeons where I've had to wait til the first boss has died before I could cast all my blessings. And yes, I can cast blessings while on the run, but heals come first.
6-09-2010 @ 5:08AM
once i got flamed for using 10 min buffs on my tankadin. however, it was because i was running many, many randoms one after the other and forgot to buy more in between (i usually buy at least 100 at a time, so i don't think about restocking very often).of course one of the few times i didn't have reagents and used my 10 min buffs (which i only had to refresh once before the last boss), i happen to get into a group with a bully who kept making fun of people's dps and telling me to go faster, while my healer was asking me to slow down to drink, and i *always* wait for my healers.so ya, he gave me the "noob pally tank, don't be cheap and buy &$%^# reagents" speech. /angryi know you guys mean well by telling him to just use reagents, but heroics shouldn't be taking 20+ min to clear, and rebuffs take about 3 seconds to do, and another 3 seconds is needed to mana up with our low mana pool.just not *that* big of a deal imo.raids, however, are another story ;)/flameon!
