How the heck do you delete a button from the Geist action bar?

You can remove a button from it like any other actionbar, just pull the button out and drop it.

It seems that Geist shares bars with Bartender's #9 & #10 bars. To get the button out of Geist I had to hold shift... not sure if that is related to BT or Geist or the default ui...

Needing to hold shift to drag something out of Geist is actually part of the default interface. Geist follows the 'Lock ActionBars' option in the game options. If you have it enabled you have to press shift to move buttons, if not you can just drag them. I believe most of the bar mods implement their own separate method for button locking.
