Breakfast Topic: Strange habits

So off I go to a new guild and server where I know no one. I'm scared -- scared I won't be good enough, scared they won't like me even if I am and scared I might be making a huge mistake in leaving my friends. You just have to swallow those kinds of thoughts, though. As a raider, I'm no stranger to moving around, and I've come up with many ways to deal with it.
One thing I do to cope is heading up to the spot you see in the picture before I transfer. This is my favorite hiding spot in the game, only accessible by players meticulous enough to complete the Higher Learning achievement. Up here, I will sit and eat some cake, then after I've had my fill, set out my little green rag doll on the bed and /sleep. The reason for this is so that when I log back in after my transfer has gone through, I know exactly where I'll be and I can pretend I'm waking up from a dream (or nightmare) to a new, promising day. I'm not sure why I do this; maybe the familiarity? It's really all quite silly, but I've been doing it for well over a year now and it seems natural.
Do you have any strange habits or rituals you do in game?

My current guild is 11/12 heroic, but the guild is divided between people who want to keep playing the game through the 12/12 Heroic kill into Cata, and people who don't. We are definitely a 12/12 H capable guild, but only when 100% of our roster shows up for the 1-2 months of work it takes to learn the fight on hardmode. This kind of thing happens a lot in guilds at the end of not just an expansion but a content patch. Many hardmode guilds divided up toward the end of Ulduar, and ToGC when they couldn't get the right people together for long enough to down things like no light Yogg-saron or Heroic Anub. Its quite common for raiders who like to raid at the pace that I do to move around a lot.
I am very nervous though, so thank you for the kind words. Even if I'm capable of 12/12 H, I don't know if I'm cut out for this new guild, which is a big jump. I don't know if I'll learn at the same pace that the guild I'm moving to does. That's a lot of what about raiding is - we're all able to do it, it's just how long does it take us to master it without making a lot of mistakes?
Thank you again

Don't know if you'll see this Dawn, but seriously, if and when you get "The Light of Dawn," you should really, really never ever use any other title. I'll give you a pass on holidays to change your title, but I mean c'mon... The Light of Dawn. It just makes sense.
Good luck, and happy hunting.

Oh, you can use the < and > signs. You just have to type them differently.
The code is, without spaces, "& lt ;" for "<", and "& gt ;" for ">". Enjoy ^^

If ever gety baby spice out of my cooking daily, I always go and use them on the flight master in Dalaran. No one so far complained or had trouble finding him shrinked... kinda disappointing.

I like rolling hunters just so I can tame the ghost saber in darkshore. I rarely keep these hunters, I just like making them and leveling them.

My DK kills every cow she comes across. I don't know why.
As for the guild-leaving, I hear you on that. I'm part of a small guild of friends, but my best friend - the one who got me back into the game - has taken two of her characters out of that guild and into a new one, a guild with more people so that they can actually do some raiding and the like. With what I've heard about the changes coming in Cata, I'd really like to be part of a larger guild so I can see all the new content, but it feels strange to leave behind the guild that's helped me so much.

Deep, subconscious, cow-related trauma.
(I dearly hope you did not get a mental image with that.)

There is no secret cow level.

After a raid I usually go to the central square of Dalaran and just sit on the bench for a few minutes. Sometimes I'm there alone, but sometimes one of my friends comes to me and we sit together. We have a chat, wave and whistle to strangers.

When we're waiting around for a boss fight to get explained, wipe recovery etc I'll run around following lines as exactly as possible on the floor. Part of me thinks that is one of the only reasons I didn't go mad in ToC :D .... or did I???? All those lovely acute angles!!!! :D

I always put my main to bed before I log off. Old habit from rested-XP and feeling safe in the inn whilst levelling.
I've also started to /dance on Saurfang's platform recently. It just looks like a big stage to me.
I've never wanted to do Higher Learning, but now I've seen that room I might have to.

When I take a break from game, either the 4 month one, when I went to take care of my mother, or the brief ones, when I will be away for a week, I take all my main toons (there are about 8 now) to their favorite places. It all started with my first main, my druid, who goes to Itharius's Cave in Swamp of Sorrows. My LWing hunter goes to her favorite farming spot. Etc...

This is, just in case, the plane goes down, or some other tragedy keeps me from ever returning. At least I know my guys will be where they are happy, forever....

Whenever I fight valiants/champions for the tournament dailies, as a hordie, I only fight the horde NPCs... my reasoning being that whoever I target will learn from the arse-kicking and I don't want to give the alliance that advantage. :\
Tirrimas Jun 13th 2010 10:38AM
Interesting. I do the opposite: I pummel the seals out of the Ally NPCs so the Horde doesn't end up paying for my fripperies.

I always sell my grey items and other things i need to sell (like old gear) to Jaeana, the meat vendor in Darnassus.

My character loves to swim. Finds a calm pool somewhere, toss off the old clothes and just dive in. Strange, for a fire mage.
