Call for submissions: Fill our cup with new Breakfast Topics
Calling all writers -- the Breakfast Topic coffee cup is back, ready to be filled up with your submissions. What's on your mind (and what do you think is on other players' minds) when it comes to WoW? Write it up as Breakfast Topic and submit your article for consideration through Seed, Aol's guest writer program.
We're looking for Breakfast Topics in our usual conversational style, asking the community for their thoughts on your WoW-related topic. Submissions should be between 200 and 500 words. (Watch that top end!) We're looking for both strong writing and topics that will spark an interesting conversation. Only the best submissions will be accepted.
Here's what to do: read up about the Seed program, sign up and then submit your article (you can't see the article page unless you have a Seed account). Unfortunately, we are currently only able to take submissions from individuals living in the United States; we hope to be able to accept international submissions in the future. We'll accept Breakfast Topic submissions for this call-out until 11:59 p.m. EST on Wednesday, June 23.
In the meantime, we'll be deciding what type of donuts we want to go along with that steaming cup of joe. Me, I'm taking hot green tea, with an English muffin and Nutella. What's your Breakfast Topic accompaniment of choice?

I know this isn't the place, but for patch 3.3.5 are there any mirrors available yet, because on my boyfriend's laptop, when it tries to DL it goes to an error that says "patch failed to apply". Was wondering how to fix that or where I can DL it elsewhere.

Nutella? You've been talking to Robin too much.
Despard Jun 15th 2010 5:29PM
Ah, 'the future'. Sounds very much like the infamous 'soon'.
I'm *nearly* living in the United States, dammit! I'm 20 minutes from the border! Just because my (adopted) currency isn't all green and has hockey players on the back of some of it...
Oh well. At least we have moose.
jerdthewarlock Jun 15th 2010 5:36PM
Is the moose spikey?
Despard Jun 15th 2010 5:41PM
You know, I think I missed the whole Spikemoose meme. At least it confuses me whenever it comes up.
Grovinofdarkhour Jun 15th 2010 6:30PM
Don't feel bad, it's pretty new.
Glaras Jun 16th 2010 12:50AM
Spikemoose. Sworn enemy of the sparkle pony.

Do we need to submit an image as well, or will you provide one if we do not?
(cutaia) Jun 15th 2010 6:06PM
I've never submitted an image with my articles. They just pick one that seems to fit. Or in some cases just throw up a random Cataclysm screenshot. :P
jishdefish Jun 15th 2010 6:14PM
Alright. Thanks, Cutaia.

Double Shot Espresso. Restores 22500 health and 19200 mana over 30 sec. If you spend at least 10 seconds drinking you will gain 80 Agility and 40 Stamina for 1 hour.

I envy those that can eat breakfast. My breakfast usually consists of a glass of water and an Imodium.

"Me, I'm taking hot green tea, with an English muffin and Nutella."
Don't you mean hot green tea, with a FREEDOM muffin and Nutella?
dodgeballer2005 Jun 15th 2010 7:44PM
Insert Insane Clown Posse reference here, like...
"fkkn raid groups, how do they work?"
That's right, when leading a raid group, how do you handle it? I know everyone might have their own style of leading one...
dodgeballer2005 Jun 15th 2010 7:45PM
Cause, you know, it's like a miracle?
(Wow, that was bad. I need more puns...)

Serious question: any idea of when this Seed program thingy will be open to non-US residents?
If I recall correctly, ~40%* of WoW.com's readership is based outside the US? We have silly topics too - THEY MUST BE DISCUSSED!
I'm staging a sit-down protest in this thread until I get an answer or my bum hurts (probably the latter).
/sit
* - I could be talking codswaddle, apologies if I am
Matt Jun 16th 2010 5:25PM
+1 internets for using the word "codswaddle" in any way, shape, or form
