Yet another warrior to 80 and being fed face first through the dungeon finder. Yet another chance to be irritated with my action bar, to slowly watch incremental DPS increases with every new piece of gear and wonder what kind of brain sickness I have that makes me do this. (In honor of
Dominic Hobbs, I'm required to say, "Whatever it is at least it can't force me to like playing a mage." Then there's a rimshot.) What really gets me is that it's all the same stuff I've done before and yet I find the process completely engaging. I love watching my DPS pop up bit by bit. It was one of the best parts of getting my tauren geared up. Going from the bottom of the run to the top. Even more than that, I love experimenting with crazy ideas (a strength gemming arms warrior build, for instance) and seeing how it goes. I enjoy the freedom of being able to tear everything down and rebuild it from the ground up that I lack on my main.
I don't know why, but there's something about the guild raiding environment that, while I enjoy it, becomes rigid and confining. I'm not really free to just play around with whatever crazy idea I have. So I ask you: do you have any habits you engage in when playing that even you think are mad, bad or even dangerous?

I'd never heard of that addon, probably because I only ever use Curse, and it's not listed there. Just downloaded it and tested it out on a random character - it's excellent, thanks a lot for the recommendation!
It's going to be going into my "Complete Must Have" addon basket, along with EveryQuest.

Smite priest leveling isn't crazy, so it can't go up here =P

Uhm...I'm leveling a combat/daggers rogue? I'm a wild one, I know.
ozreece77 Jun 16th 2010 8:55AM
i think i could be crazy.
Over 20 characters 70+ including 10 at 80.
Currently playing my 5th hunter race (level 49 atm).
When will the madness end?
I blame heirlooms tbh. Probably wouldnt have rolled so many alts if it wasnt for them.

One thing I want to try: DPSing on my tank. I'm already dual-spec'd holy. No, I mean DPSing from my protection spec.
I know it's crazy. I know it'll be gimped, given that there are no Str-based one-handers and no melee DPS shields (at least, nothing outside of PvP that would be useful).
I want to try it anyhow, logic be damned.
Telaria Jun 16th 2010 1:55PM
Not uh, that I have tried this. Really. But. >.>
Telaria Jun 16th 2010 1:58PM
Shoot, ate part of my comment. Anyway.
You do more DPS with a one hand and shield, even tanking ones, than with a ret weapon, not that I was given a Citadel Enforcer's Claymore to test this with, really. I am slowly gathering unwanted plate DPS gear from ICC to see how I do with that. :3
We have a DK doing the same thing... with healy plate. What can I say, we're bad people.

I want to Shaman Tank but we can't have everything can we.

^THIS x 100000
I've heard stories told by vanilla hard cores, they tell of enhance shammies tanking 5 mans with rockbiter weapon and a shield...
Really wish there was a way that blizz could revamp enhance to be a shammy tanking tree, with lightning shield revamped to be tanking shield form *like druid bear form does). Even dw tanking as enhance would be friggin amazing
(I love tanking btw, that's my madness, and find myself unwilling to play a toon that can't be specced to tank. 6 lvl 80's collecting dust cuz they cant take a marrowgar cleave /sigh)
Djinn Jun 16th 2010 10:12AM
Shaman tank yes you can.

Look him up on youtube. I have seen vids of him tanking Lady Deathwhisper on 10 man. He uses Frost Shock for a lot of direct threat and does some really creative things, not sure if he has guides posted but if you are serious about shaman tanking it is not impossible.
Bromacusii Jun 16th 2010 9:55AM
myself i'm a ret pally doing ~10K dps i faceroll so thats nothing different
but my GL has a resto druid who pulls mobs in ICC, i guess thats bordering on the dangerous/stupid
Djinn Jun 16th 2010 10:14AM
Our raid leader is a shaman and he seems to think his Lightning Bolt is a misdirect because he is always pulling..
Jormund Fenris Jun 16th 2010 10:20AM
I play a Draenei shaman alchemist engineer, if I played on a RP-server I'd be the maddest mad scientist there is.
Gendou Jun 16th 2010 10:22AM
I try to solo things that are much larger, stronger and more dangerous than I am.
On my Shadow Priest, in Vanilla, it was Devilsaurs while leveling in Un'goro, Frost Giants while leveling in Winterspring, and the elite dragons in the Badlands once I hit 60.
On my Warlock, in Burning Crusade, it was Fel Reavers and whatever dragons I could find.
And on my Death Knight, in Wrath, it's Thrym in Zul'Drak or basically any oversized elite in Icecrown.
thegatherer Jun 16th 2010 10:22AM
MADNESS??? THIS IS AZEROTH!!!
On that note, slowly destroying a person's body and spirit just to steal their soul and crystalize it is terribly fun....either that or I'm just insane...
jasonlstroh Jun 16th 2010 11:09PM
I enjoy... Occulus(can't spell it). Yes, I know I'm insane...
willowblue Jun 16th 2010 10:33AM
I'm going to be laughing my way to infinity in Cata when mp5 gets nerfed to the ground and I get to pull out my Darkmoon Card: Blue Dragon again!
Robert Jun 16th 2010 10:35AM
It may have been mentioned on here before, but I love to play "LFG Russian Roulette" Where I queue my tank for a random dungeon, and right before I hit enter dungeon I jump off of a high tower in Dalaran. If one of the dps fails to enter... SPLAT!
Derrek Jun 16th 2010 2:26PM
If you were in my battlegroup, the Kirin Tor would sue you for leaving permanent craters all over their beautiful streets.
Possum Jun 16th 2010 2:53PM
Yes, there is always one and it is always dps. Then you have to requeue and you've lost the tank..
