I'm working on my second level 80 shaman. And intend to level a third. I find the class to be the most enjoyable (and the only that I can bear to get past old world) which makes my guild think I'm insane.
Daily I'm asked by members of the guild that are new or not on much "Why are you gearing a second shaman." It has gotten to the point where other members start to laugh when the question is asked because I've got some smart comment to the question.

While I don't share the obsession, I feel you on the leveling aspect of shamans. Whether enhance or elemental (or even resto now), questing as a shaman just doesn't feel like that grind-your-teeth and eat/drink every 10 seconds that it seems like other classes have. They are just interesting, the 2 dps specs have very little (if any) downtime, and weapon imbues make your damage dealing significantly higher at lower levels than most other classes.

I share your affinity for the Shaman class. After mostly solo-leveling a Warlock to the cap and then not really wanting to sit in town looking for groups (before Dungeon Finder) I leveled a Shaman to the cap and absolutely loved and still love him in end game. I started out elemental very early on but mostly healed as elemental in 5-mans, once I hit 40 I got dual spec and went restoration, shortly after replacing elemental with enhancement. Since hitting the cap I've really gotten into PvP/Battlegrounds and so now I have two restoration specs. I miss enhancement sometimes though and really want to fully try elemental at some point. Come Cataclysm I plan to start at least one new Shaman as elemental and possibly another as an enhancement twink (cross-battlegroup BGs FTW!).
In addition to the Lock and the Shaman I have a DK at the cap now and have gotten a Warrior and Rogue to at least 60 and while I really enjoy them all there is just something special about the Shaman class. I feel like its a chance to master three different play-styles all while using familiar utilities between them. There is also some unexplainable mystique and attitude to being a Shaman.
All this said, I've never rolled a Druid but plan to in Cataclysm.
