The Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm available for preorder

The next book in the Warcraft novel series, World of Warcraft: The Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm by Christie Golden is now available for preorder on Amazon.com both in hardcover edition and for the Kindle. This book (which incidentally has the longest title I've ever seen for a Warcraft book) covers the events prior to the release of the Cataclysm expansion, and as mentioned is written by award-winning author Christie Golden, who brought us other novels such as Lord of the Clans, Rise of the Horde and Arthas: Rise of the Lich King.
Both the Kindle preorder and the hardcover print edition preorder have a release date set for August 31st, 2010. While some may view this as a tip off to Cataclysm's release date, I'd advise people not to get too excited -- generally the novel release dates aren't tied to the release of expansions at all. I am, however, looking forward to the book; Golden's prior works have always made for an entertaining read, and while we have no information regarding the contents of the book, it can be assumed we'll be seeing more of Deathwing, Warchief Thrall, Garrosh Hellscream, King Varian Wrynn, Malfurion Stormrage and many of the other characters that may play major parts in the Cataclysm expansion. Thank you to reader Patrick for the tip!

My favorite example is the Jedi Knight games. The first Jedi Knight game was Dark Forces 2, so Jedi Academy's full title could technically be "Star Wars: Dark Forces IV: Jedi Knight III: Jedi Outcast II: Jedi Academy". :P

@Groth
I had Chile con Carne last night, I've been waging my own colon wars ever since.
Sorry... I couldn't resist.

I'm still trying to get "Night of the Dragon" out of my head. I know Ms. Golden can help heal those wounds.

Invincible. Invincible. Oh yeah have I told you about this horse invincible?

Invincible.
At least when Knaak used macabre 12 times, to his credit, he was always describing the something that had that exact defining characteristic. And unless you are going to define macabre similarly but different everytime, it worked just as well.
Christie Golden is a /decent/ Author but some people overdo it.

I believe that retailers have to list a release date so they can accept pre-orders, which is why they put up placeholder release dates on their sites. August 31st is just a placeholder so they can make the book available for pre-order.

More colons, more colons. Okay, stop colons.
Christie run to the center.

Looking foreward to it.
Small question : I've never pre-ordered a book from the net; is the an option to buy an e-Book of it?

That's what the Kindle does. If you have an iphone or droid phone, there are free apps to use them like a kindle.

I am so very glad Christie Golden is the author. I just finished Rise of the Horde (along with Lord and Arthas earlier this year). She is by far the best author of the Warcraft book series, we won't mention the worst.

Stormrage was an excellent book. I was so mad when I was done with it, I wanted it to go on forever. Whenever I see a Knaak hater, I /facepalm.

Absolutely phenomenal. Christie Golden is a fabulous writer who truly respects her source material, and it's for this reason that the three Warcraft books she's been involved with are my three favorites. Cheers, can't wait.

If there is an HD version of this novel, will it have Deathwing's shiny new grillz?
Sulwyn Jun 16th 2010 9:17PM
Awesome. I love Christie Golden's WoW books. Her style of writing is so descriptive and powerful. Rise of the Horde was wonderful, and Arthas was incredible. Anxious to see what she does with this one.

I must admit the prelude novel to this prelude novel, "The Slightly Negligible Teensy Breaking: Prelude to the Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm", was quite good.
