WoW Moviewatch: Run This Raid
You can always tell a super-mega-hit WoW movie pretty quickly after its release by how many times it lands in the mailbox of your intrepid WoW.com journalist team. To help put this in perspective, Run This Raid by CollegeHumor has hit my box more than any other video except BLIND. Nothing about Run This Raid is machinima or fan-created, although it's pretty obvious at this point that CollegeHumor has at least a few folks who have played the game. But, still, when something like this hits the community, your intrepid team will cover it.
Run This Raid is a song-length parody of Run This Town. However, instead of Jay-Z, we get some WoW players and a night elf. I have to say, I found the whole thing pretty fun. The video was put together with an eye for fun. And like many such parody videos, Run This Raid seems to have an underlying fondness for the game that keeps the joshing all in good fun.
Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an e-mail at machinima AT wow DOT com.

Penance, lol.

A rap song that uses terms like "f*g" and "Homo"?
My, how unusual and clever.
Frank Jun 16th 2010 12:45PM
during pride month, no less!

A sarcastic comment on the internet?
My, how unusual and clever.

They’re clearly parodying trade chat as well as BG QQing. Such as the whole segment towards the end where the guy is killed and the Night Elf keeps singing “Gayaaaayayaayay. Gaayaaayy.” The language is pretty accurate if you take into account all the homophobic insults that can go down in an online video game.

Considering that Moviewatch usually warns for NSFW stuff, I'd prefer they warn for homophobic slurs, as well.

Eh, the lyrics were dull, and "Who's gonna run this raid tonight?" could've been used for something more epic.
Nice girl tho.

I just listened to the original song by Jay Z, so I want to retract my previous comment.
If anything, these lyrics have improved the original ones. Seriously, check them on CollegeHumour, and then find Jay Z's lyrics. Seriously.

I appreciate you agreeing with me, Chrisamcnicholas.

No problem homie.

The guy running in place with his forehead against a tree was a nice touch.
Grimgold Jun 16th 2010 1:11PM
Yeah, this video was made of win. Best line:
"..No escort quest tonight, work was hard and i want to fight"
snowleopard233 Jun 16th 2010 1:15PM
Yeah, those were some pretty funny touches. Despite how much they make WoW players out to look like complete socially inept nerds who live with their moms, you can still tell they would have to play the game themselves to know any of the references.

"Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay"
^quoting the song
Ametrine Jun 16th 2010 2:02PM
I lol'd at how the whining of "gaaaaay" didn't come until the Alliance pally got ganked.
splodesondeath Jun 16th 2010 3:20PM
Hehe, as soon as I watched this I sent in a tip. Glad to see I wasn't the only one.

Also, I have trouble not falling out of my chair every time I see Sam Reich's face.

Damn, almost got me sucked into College Humor again. Good thing I only got far in as watching one more video beyond this (Tik Tok parody ftw). That said, I thought it was a great video. I loved the mom coming in to offer food, always funny to tease about that. :P
