Breakfast Topic: Six impossible things

There's a nice quote from Through the Looking Glass in which Alice states to the White Queen that one can't believe impossible things. The White Queen shrugs this off as silly, "When I was your age, I always did it for a half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast!" I don't really know if there's any sense to be made of it, but the phrase "six impossible things" always stuck with me. Now how does this relate to World of Warcraft, exactly?
With Cataclysm coming up, the world that we play in is changing completely. Some things we remember from days past may not even exist anymore, and some things may change altogether. So I am keeping a list of (more or less) six impossible things to accomplish before Cataclysm. It keeps me occupied when I'm not raiding, and each time I finish something, I add something else to the list. The three achievements above were all on my list, I've replaced them with Attumen's mount from Karazhan, the tiger from Zul'Gurub, and I am contemplating whether or not trying to farm for warglaives would be a good idea.
Each time I manage one of the impossible things it feels like I've accomplished something, though the merits of having accomplished anything substantial in a video game can be argued back and forth. Still, it keeps me happy, and it keeps me busy. So do you have a list of impossible things? If you do, what are they? If you don't, what are you doing to keep yourself occupied?

The entire Ahn Qiraj gong quest. A lot of my guildies are working on it, but they got their rep by just running AQ over and over, I'm doing the carapace turnins. I may be a masochist, but I have more fun doing things the way they were meant to be done.

Yeah i've been working on this chain on and off for the past year or so. I originally planned to grind the carapieces but went mad after about 7k of them, i soloed the Anubisaths in the entrance for the remaining rep and got the red bug mount+FoS while i was at it.
Finally completed Draconic for Dummies vol.II this week which was probably the most involved part of the chain so far, now i've got to farm up 10 elementium ores to make the bouy to summon Maws =/ It's been a lot of fun dragging guildies around to old school places though, we wiped twice on Dr. Weavil before my friend brought his hunter and pet-tanked it. Plus it's an excuse for guidies to get their old-world raid achievements.

If you've done six impossible things this morning, why not round it off with breakfast at Milliway's, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe?

Dammit, that was my planned statement >:[

I finally get this quote after a decade.

I think another impossible thing to add to your list is to make it to the secret island south of Tanaris without a Shaman/DK/swim potion.
ghola Jun 17th 2010 8:57AM
Water walking potion will get you there easily. I'm assuming you mean the island you need to go to for the Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline for the blue scepter shard.
The island I can't get to is directly SW from the corner of the Gilneas peninsula. It looks to be a square with nothing on it. I can't quite make it before I get too fatigued and drown.

Druid aquatic form with the swim speed glyph works nicely, too.

Get my multibox team through at least the first 5 bosses of ICC10.
Or insane title, not sure which will be easier

For quite some time, I had 2 impossible things I wanted to do: Rivendare's Mount and Shoulderguards of the Bold, from the Warrior Dungeon Set from BC.
Went from Neutral to Exalted with Lower City long before the shoulders ever dropped.
Got the Baron's skeletal horse a few weeks ago, after over 200 attempts. Now to get 25-man Arthas down.

Murmur didn't like you either? Man, I had to tank with PVP shoulders because he didn't want to give me my shoulders either D:
Josin Jun 17th 2010 12:31PM
Murmur HATED me.
Sl0th Jun 17th 2010 6:25PM
Murmur hated all of us.
*Grumbles about how long it took to get his hunter's Sonic Spear back in the day.*

Loremaster, Zulian Tiger, Thunderfury, Level gnome 39twink rogue to 80 and gear up, Duo all Vanilla raid/dungeon content on main with my wife (AQ40 and MC left to go), Cenarion Hippogryph
Miri Jun 17th 2010 8:37AM
I have AQ40 and BWL to duo with my husband--AQ40's first boss was our biggest issue because of the MC...still trying to figure out a way around that--at least we have better gear! I might have to give that a go this weekend now :)
Misc. rep grinds from Vanilla, finishing all the old raids, getting Thunderfury on at least ONE toon, same with the MagT mount. Baron's mount will hopefully drop, same with the ZG tiger/raptor (can you tell I've been having crappy luck with mounts?). So much to do, so little time!
Though I did manage to ding 80 on my 10th character yesterday evening--now have one of every class at 80.
Quasi Jun 17th 2010 4:11PM
Our greatest successes facing down MC targets as a duo, have been to have one of us drop out of the fight and just solo it, we are more dangerous to each other then most bosses/mobs...more specifically, she, the tank, is more dangerous to me, a healer.
Sleutel Jun 17th 2010 8:38AM
I farm mounts. So far, I have the ZG tiger, the Raven Lord, and KT's Hawkstrider. All of these are with the generous assistance of my pocket healer, a Resto Druid--we do mount runs together and take turns picking up what drops.
Musterion Jun 17th 2010 8:42AM
For me it's the Insane title keeping my very busy (farming for mats on my alt, running DM), while I farm the zulian tiger and raptor (and soon fiery warhorse's reins and Raven lord mount one day) on my main :) only 9 ZG runs so far, no mounts!
Cyrus Jun 17th 2010 8:56AM
I still want to get exalted with the Hydraxian Waterlords and the Brood of Nozdormu. Also, I'd also like to finish the AQ scepter quest chain, but 10 Elementium Ore is a big barrier. And that's just on my main; I'd also like to do a bunch more on my warrior that I've kept at 60. I assume that the current Loremaster and Explorer achievements are going to become Feats of Strength, so I'd like him to finish the old world parts of them before the cataclysm, and he still has quite a bit to do. And, of course, more set pieces.
Other than that... I don't know, the ZG mounts are too much trouble... I might put in a few attempts at the Baron's mount, but if I haven't seen it drop in all these years I'm not holding my breath with suspense for the next few months...
You'll notice that most if not all of the stuff I'd like to get done isn't going away. It might change, or become even harder, but some of that will definitely still be there after Cataclysm and for all we know it all will. I consider myself lucky for that, and/or good at setting goals. It would be nice to finish that before the old world goes away forever, but likewise it's even more nice to not be rushed to need to get it done by a deadline or else I'll have failed or whatever.
BigDumbFace Jun 17th 2010 10:38AM
Bornakk already commented that it will not become a feat of strength. It will be reset when Cata hits. If you have it already, you keep it. If not, you have to do all the new quests to get it.
