I levelled a healadin in Classic without using any addons. I got used to clicking targets and then casting my heals, and the beauty of a paladin is that it's all single-target and you can change targets in the middle of the heal.Healing in BC content - five-mans, heroics - gave me reason to download DrDamage, and I used the negligable unit-frame capabilities of CTRaid to show how much health a person had missing, so I got used to knowing how much my heals would hit for and thus which heal to cast on which person. This was during the days of "Hey, we can still downrank", so I had max-level Holy Light, Holy Light 4, and max-level Flash of Light on my bars at all times. When I started doing Karazhan, though, I downloaded HealBot. I didn't use it to heal, but I used it to show the same health deficit, and I was able to see which other healers were healing which people. Being a paladin, I was assigned the main tank anyway, but it helped to know in case I needed to toss a Holy Shock on myself or the other healer if he was having trouble.Healing in Wrath made me unlearn click-casting and use HealBot more, due to the more complex mechanics of the instances and mechanics (before T9 made it a joke). To this day, I don't regret healing without addons, since it taught me a lot about reaction times and situational awareness, but I refuse to heal without HealBot now.
