Can you heal without addons? Yes. Yes you can.My main's a priest (discipline to be exact) and I don't like healing addons. Don't get me wrong, for some they're great; and I understand the utility of them and the potential benefits. I do use DBM, but as for healer-specific ones? You couldn't pay me. Okay, you could pay me, but I wouldn't do it for free! I can and do heal everything up through ICC. I do not use any raiding addons other than DBM. I do my job, and I do it well. I've never received a complaint about my healing, and oftentimes I even am complimented. The decision not to use addons was purely a personal one. I leveled 1-80 in disc, without addons. I got very, VERY used to doing things the way I did them, and partially I admit my reluctance stemmed from fearing I would have to relearn interfaces, relearn how to heal. I didn't want to deal with that, I KNEW how...but only the basic way. For the exact same reasons I refuse to play with a mouse; I learned on the touchpad and using key bindings, that's what I know best, what I'm comfy with, and it's just how I play the game.I don't use raid frames aside from the basic ones built into the game itself. It shows when debuffs are up and when they go down, for the whole raid. It doesn't show HoTs, but to me that's not a huge deal. If someone needs healing, I heal them. I'd probably run a greater risk of losing someone to damage due to lag from the memory use more addons take than the extra half second it would take me to check on a bare-bones setup and toss a heal. As for things like range, I use the in-game distance check when needed. Do we wipe sometimes? Yes. Is it my fault sometimes? Of course. But what healer, addons or no, can say they've never been the cause of any wipe?In my opinion, knowledge of the class and its skills, raid awareness, and ability to react quickly are just as if not more important than addons when it comes to healing. Personal preference and comfort are also important; if the healer is cramped by an addon they'll do far worse than a healer at ease with their basic setup. It's an individual choice to heal with or without addons, but I thought I'd toss in my two cents on the side that it is not only possible, but entirely feasible and moreover enjoyable to heal without addons.
