Around Azeroth: Reverse vampire
Yay! It's a hundred degrees and humid, but that doesn't matter because True Blood is back! After all the Twilight hoopla it's nice to see vampires who actually rip out throats rather than angst all over the place. In honor of the first of the three shows that will get me through this hellaciously hot summer (Futurama and Mad Men, you better not disappoint), I'm showcasing this sanguinary screenshot submitted by Devana of Ghostlands (US-H). The fangs are a little misplaced, but the evil smile is just perfect.
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as emailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use Alt Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, Val'kyr on mounts or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran. Older screenshots can be found here.

Also, time paradox.

Having read one of the books True Blood is based on, my opinion of anything that has its roots in Charlaine Harris' writing is dim ... she's almost as bad as Knaack. Never seen the TV show though.

Sookie is just as annoying as Bella IMO, the only thing she's got over her is unlike Bella, she's actually useful sometimes and is not an obvious author self-insert.
True Blood is a million times better than the books. Not that it would be particularly hard to do, when you're comparing to Harris' abysmal writing to Alan Ball's showrunning (I mean this IS the guy that gave us Six Feet Under). But it's not my cup of tea--I prefer my vampires aristocratic and suave as opposed to trashy hillbillies. :P I also don't care for Harris' questionable analogies between vampires and real life minorities, which the show takes even further, but this isn't my Dreamwidth blog and that's a whole other rant.
Fletcher Jun 20th 2010 11:23AM
Sookie "Mary Sue" Stackhouse aside, the main problem I took away from it was that the vampires - with whom Harris seems to intend us to empathise - are textbook serial sexual predators. Which is creepifying. I ended up rooting for the Brotherhood of the Sun. Death to the dead! Death to the damned!

Please, please, please, tell me you got the title (reverse vampire) from my favorite show about mystery solving food
Cyanea Jun 20th 2010 11:13AM
It'll be a sad day if that's not where the title comes from.
BRB. Bus of the Undead outside my house.
Zarst Jun 20th 2010 11:20AM
Upon further thought, I do believe that the title is referring to the upside-down vampire fangs. Oh well....
....doesn't change the fact that the bus is lubricated with 10-W blood

It IS a sad day, because you don't know that "reverse vampires" is originally from The Simpsons.
tldr: SIMPSONS DID IT

From his treehouse, through a telescope, Bart observes men chugging the tonic and running indoors to their female partners.
Bart: OK, it's not _painfully_ clear the adults are _definitely_ paving the way for an invasion by the saucer people.
Milhouse: You fool! Can't you see it's a massive government conspiracy? Or have they gotten to you too?
[he and Bart start wrestling]
Lisa: Hey! Hey, hey, stop it! Stop it! Why are you guys jumping to such ridiculous conclusions? Haven't you ever heard of Occam's Razor? "The simplest explanation is probably the correct one."
Bart: [condescending] So what's the simplest explanation?
Lisa: I don't know. Maybe they're all reverse vampires and they have to get home before dark.
Everyone: Aah! Reverse vampires! Reverse vampires!
[Lisa sighs]

So would a reverse vampire be someone who is allergic to night and has to sleep in a sun bed? Also instead of stealing blood from young virgin females would they have to take it from dirty hairy bikers?
Zarst Jun 20th 2010 11:25AM
To clarify, they CRAVE the sun. They love it and they love to get tans. They are actually from tannsylvania. The thing you need to look at is the wheels, see, those are the markings.
KrisseyB Jun 20th 2010 11:28AM
You just described everyone on jerseylicious.
Dookieshed Jun 20th 2010 12:37PM
Also, the best vampires are from Legacy of Kain.
Hurbster Jun 20th 2010 2:38PM
And the most annoying Mary Sue of the vampire genre ? In my opinion - Anita Blake.
