Scorchling not available in this year's Midsummer Fire Festival

AredekI'm afraid that the Scorchling does not appear to be available this year, folks. I cannot say for certain whether or not it will be made available in the future; however, we encourage you to share your thoughts on the Suggestions forum if you would like to see the Scorched Stone be obtainable in some other way.
It's unclear why they elected to leave it out this year, however it almost looks like it might have been a simple error rather than a design decision. Either way, the historical drop rates for this were so low that most players won't be able to tell the difference. Also, despite this, the Lil' Game Hunter achievement is much more easily obtainable now than it was this time last year, with the introduction of many new sources for non-combat pets.
Still, that's a very cute fireball.

Zarhym has said that the Scorchling will be coming back at some point. If I had to guess, it'd be during the Cataclysm launch event since Ragnaros will be making a return appearance.

It's the "Spirit of Summer" that you can get with Burning Blossoms, it looks like a pinkish wisp.

I wasted my blossoms on that last year thinking it was the scorchling. Pink wisp = lame, tiny herald of Ragnaros now unavailable? = cry.

Although the Scorchling isn't available this year., I did win a roll for the "Frigid Frostling" today which is a cute mini ice elemental. Perhaps this will make players happy to know they have a chance at roling a win on a pet. It was my third time running Alune this morning when it dropped. Not sure what the drop rate is but I have not seen it since and I have ran it about 10-12 times.

I was under the impression that the mini-pet came from the bag, and not from the loot the boss has. Are you saying the boss dropped the mini-pet and rolled on it?

Is this item not in the stachel then? How was it 'rolled for'? and how were you able to run the dungeon three times? does the pet drop in the regular dungeon too?

Last year there were no bags and no dungeon finder! you had to run to the instance! up hill! in the snow! while no one wanted to run it anymore! ^_^

You are correct, I did obtain the Frigid Frostling from my bag of goodies. And how did I run it three times? Well I actually have been farming Alune all day. All you have to do is queue up using dungeon finder so that you can work on obtaining the drops the boss has as well. Of course you don't get a bag after the first time each day, but you can get some other nice items.

So just to be clear, you got it from your bag of goodies, I'm assuming after the daily quests reset on your server? You didn't actually win a "roll" from the boss loot table, yes?

I was under the impression that the only thing you could get from farming him was the cloaks.
