WoW Moviewatch: How to determine a PUG's personality
RomireVids has released their new video How to determine a Pug's personality. There's a few notes about the community in this video, so try and follow me here for a second. Romire especially thanks Propostris and Wowcrendor for inspiring this video, and the short film definitely includes cut-outs from the Icecrown Raiding. On the video's YouTube page, RomireVids also thanks a small legion of WoW machinima personalities, including EmberIsolte and Gigi. There's too many to list here, though, so please check out the YouTube page. With such a long list of attributions, it's almost impossible for me to tell who did what. It's kind of an interesting situation.
Nonetheless, How to determine a PUG's personality seems very clearly inspired by Wowcrendor's style. It's got that same kind of dry-toned humor, and displays the same kind of love for WoW. The creator obviously enjoys the game, but is somewhat nonplussed by the people he comes across. It's a pretty universal experience, and a lot of your enjoyment of this video will probably stem from whether you share the creator's opinions.

Maybe it's just me, but I dislike the narration.

The guy just made a cheap copy of "the Holy list". I recommend thoroughly reading it all for a good chuckle: http://www.wowwiki.com/Identifying_aberrant_personalities

@Johan Forn
The first link you provided is hilarious, Especially on how to deal with a Deaf-mute player. That article has made my day ^^,

His posts on MMO-Champion are worse.
Agerath Jun 25th 2010 12:11PM
What the fuck is wrong with that guy's voice?
Ghrall - Earthen Ring Jun 25th 2010 12:13PM
Horrible, narrator flubs most of his lines and blows your speakers out if you have the volume loud enough to hear the cut scenes.
Moves very slow, you will constantly be changing your volume. Nice try...no cigar.

Does WoW.com seriously hire thirteen year olds to write for them now? Gezz, when Mike Schram ran this thing, videos like this would of never been allowed. For a site that's supposed to be PG-13, that video definitely drops the f-bomb more than once. Makes me wonder if the author of the article even WATCHED it.

Thoughtful analysis....That sucked the sweat off a dead man's...finish the line yerself.
Completely remove the entire machinima, and leave the vaguely amusing Vanilla Ice parody, with or without visual candy.

His aussie accent aside, the volume difference between him and the others was painful, and the entire thing awkward and not really funny.... This really wasn't up to the standard of a lot of the other videos ive watched on this site. Not that it was completely crap or anything, but it was bad enough to make me actually leave a comment.

Boooooring. Listened through less than half of it before I had to turn it off or fall asleep.
Possum Jun 25th 2010 10:31PM
Is he Aussie? I thought he was Kiwi.
Andhar Jun 25th 2010 12:48PM
This one's a miss. It just needs better execution all around.
Sharvis Jun 25th 2010 12:54PM
I liked the content of the video but not the execution. The volume levels weren't uniform making it difficult to hear the dialogue, of which needed better practice (subtitles please!). It sounded like the voiceovers were recorded on the first attempt as I noticed some stuttering and lack of oomph. With a little more polish put in, I'd have liked it a lot more. Overall it's a fine video, I'd like to see better work from this author.

The voice-over was too loud while the character voices were much much too soft. Normalization is ideal, but subtitles are a potential work-around if the issue is one of poor quality hardware.
It seemed like they had a general idea of what they wanted to say, but weren't working off of a script, which seemed like a mistake. Numerous repetitions, stutters, and general pacing issues hurt the comedic appeal. A solid script in front of the voice actors and several run throughs would fix all of that.
Azeroth is a pretty big place, it wouldn't hurt to use non-Dalaran backgrounds for the non-ICC scenes.

I came here to post my comments on this video, but I believe Adjatha's post here sums it up pretty well already. So, I'll simply state my agreement, and leave this post here for emphasis.
Heather Jun 25th 2010 2:45PM
I have to agree with Adjatha. I really liked the content, but the volume was so off that it really threw me.
Zanathos Jun 25th 2010 2:51PM
I ended up fiddling with the volume whenever it switched between narration and examples

Brinetroll, the Burn Arbitater.

I cringed throughout that whole video, not as good as the dungeon LFG one.
