Thaddius encounter recreated in StarCraft II
Ever wonder what happens to raid bosses when they get bored? For Thaddius, it seems he has been spending some time moonlighting over in StarCraft II. While he was there, it also seems like he's picked up a few more tricks and upgraded his armor. After all, Naxxramas was only a setback!
IIam4 used Thaddius as an inspiration for his entry into the custom ability contest on SC2Mapster by recreating his Polarity Shift. While he was recreating this ability, he also decided to add a few new features of his own.
- Shocking Grasp A random target will be paralyzed and take damage over time. If any other unit comes within range of the afflicted unit, Shocking Grasp will jump. This can create a chain reaction.
- Spawn Volatile Spark Two volatile sparks are spawned, serving as summoned adds that should be DPSed down right away.
StarCraft II is set to release on July 27, 2010. While I'm absolutely certain it will be a fantastic game in its own rights, I can't help but wonder if we will see any more player-created World of Warcraft crossovers with the tools that are shipping with SC2. Can you imagine a campaign where the end boss is casting Defile while you try to micromanage all of your units safely around it? How about navigating your troops into position for a Shatter or managing Burning Adrenaline. Maybe a little Doomfire for good measure! This could bring a whole new level of fun to Tower Defense and Mastermind-style game mods!
So, if you could recreate any one boss or ability from WoW in a StarCraft II fight, what boss would it be?

C'thun.
His eye beam would be lulzworthy against a zerg rush.

Malygos, because the flying units are not horrible to control. Getting the flying things for the melee could be a viking launching up from the ground!

Mimiron, no doubt about that.

Why are the healers drones? Is that some kind of statement?
This could actually be a good way to teach micro in sc2.
Igantinos Jun 27th 2010 12:45PM
the healers are queens -.-
Sinzaram Jun 27th 2010 1:19PM
Those are drones. Lmao
Sinzaram Jun 27th 2010 1:19PM
I mean queens, not drones! Disregard...
ToyChristopher Jun 27th 2010 1:35PM
Oh I see! I watched it at a higher resolution and they are queens. Still not sure I like it.

Damn, I was also thinking about a WotLK campaing.
Gunship battle. With and added phase - when both ships part a bit and the main goal will be using their full ranged arsenal before coming to each other again.
Maybe with a 3rd when fighting Scourge adds.

I love the Naxxaramas was merely a setback

I would personally prefer SCII do its own thing, evolve in a direction that doesn't have it relate back to a game that has probably touched over 50 million people personally in the course of 5 or 6 years. WoW is WoW, SCII is SCII.
That said Algalon with his voice files would be pretty damn awesome.
Thatacus Jun 27th 2010 6:20PM
Though I understand what you're saying, SCII and WoW are both still separate things. This isn't something that Blizzard did and put in as an Easter Egg or a Cow Level or anything; this as mostly just a guy who created his own custom map. It's like when WC3 had all those LotRO or Diablo custom maps that people made on their own.

Starcraft and Brood War have sold around 10 million copies since release, and SC2 Beta tournaments and replays are attracting hundreds of thousands of viewers already. SC2 hardly needs WoW references to be awesome.
Bossy Jun 28th 2010 5:25AM
Correction SC had 10 million players when video gamers didn't experience WOW yet ...
They are publishing a renewed version of PacMan when everyone else is playing Mario Galaxy.
SC2 is already superseeded 10 times by other RTS since the last ... 10 years and if you don't see that well you are blind.
SC2 and D3 are both filled gaps in waiting for their new MMo. And if Blizzard thinks these games will be "it" ... I guess it is time PArdo and Morhaime retire...
Awaiting the "not so good sale figuresé after 6 months launch and good ol' Bobby will have no mercy.
As hsould be with such lucrative 59 upgraded DS games on PC.
