oh snap. stronger alliance presence in the barrens. Pretty creepy. That's on the door step of orgimmar and thunder bluff.
Portals Jun 28th 2010 11:42PM
so that's why they always raid x-roads....
Kanuris Jun 29th 2010 2:27PM
And joyfully, Crossroads is still Horde controlled in Barrens, so many more can follow.
Though they'd better buff Segra Darkthorn. She's lost a lot of her former Saurfang-esque power, what with being left as a 60 Elite.

I'm just glad I'll have somewhere to run to while doing those bloody Warlock class quests.
MusedMoose Jun 28th 2010 11:02PM
Ooooh. That looks like a good time and a bad day all at once. *grin* Can't wait to head over there. I wonder if it'll be a common site for world PvP.
If so, my gnomish-engineering NE fire mage will gladly join in. Bwa ha ha.

And promptly be shredded by a cat.
Aedilhild Jun 29th 2010 12:31AM
. . . a cat blasted into the ravine by a dwarf shaman's Thunderstorm.

You've been... THUNDERSTRUCK!
dippymister Jun 28th 2010 11:03PM
Is that a horde style town that is now alliance? If so, that is awesome. I love the orc style houses, and having orc-style alliance towns would be amazing!
iscalio Jun 28th 2010 11:20PM
Nah, it's a Horde stronghold you see in the back. The screenshot was taken with the Alliance stronghold behind the hypothetical photographer. Humans still do not live in orc huts or fortresses.
elstor Jun 28th 2010 11:20PM
Behind the flags (where the picture taker is standing, or directly behind) is an Alliance fort. The war-torn area between the two forts and the Horde fort are shown in this shot. The reason there are Alliance banners is to show off their control of the area.
gorillazfan249 Jun 28th 2010 11:22PM
No, it's the new Horde architecture they're using for all the buildings, just like the ones in Northrend. The pic seems to be taken with the Alliance camp behind the screen.
Medayo Jun 28th 2010 11:25PM
Why are the Alliance suddenly interested in taking over the Barrens?
Alex Ziebart Jun 28th 2010 11:27PM
They're at war. If the Horde has it, the Alliance wants it. The opposite is also true.
Angrycelt Jun 28th 2010 11:47PM
The Horde goes heavily on the offense this expansion, if the rumors are true.
Allies don't seem to have done much besides destroy Camp Taurajo and finally reinforced that dwarven fort in south Barrens. I'm hoping to find some new expansion for both sides. Stir the pot a bit and get to quest in some new areas.
Got my 2 new characters to take 1-85 all picked out and name camped. Just waiting for the ground to start shaking.
brian Jun 28th 2010 11:56PM
Taking a zone with very close proximity to two of the opposing side's capitals? Very good strategy.
Then, when you take into account that the Alliance is gaining true allies in the form of the Wildhammer, and they have a clear path from the Hinterlands north to the Plaguelands, gaining a closer front to two more capitals... yeah. Wartime advantage.
KJP Jun 29th 2010 12:16AM
It's Arathi Basin tactics put into application. The Horde overrun Ashenvale, so the Alliance come in from behind and cap Southern Barrens.
The only thing I don't get is, the only Alliance forces in that part of the world are Jaina's. Since when is this kind of aggression her style?
Zhiva Jun 29th 2010 2:40AM
@KJP
Since Horde is ruled by Garrosh, I guess.
BenMS Jun 29th 2010 3:48AM
@KJP You're line of thinking is correct, there's no way that Jaina would go on the warpath if Thrall was still in power. Garrosh on the other hand is a legitimate target.
Fletcher Jun 29th 2010 3:54AM
I think if Varian said "Oh, btw Jaina we're going to move a zillion steam tanks, infantry and gryphons through Theramore to flatten the Barrens" Jaina would be ... not thrilled. But at the same time, she doesn't really have the clout to stand up to Varian; for one thing, Theramore is in the middle of a godforsaken bog and has no agriculture to speak of, it's dependent upon food imports. For another, Jaina is smart enough to realize that even if she were to extend the olive branch to Garrosh, Garrosh would eat the olive branch, the hand holding it, and then burp rudely. He's just not interested in diplomacy.
