Just to take the other side (or looking at the brighter picture) for the sake of it:How often do you get a main character who isn't a hero? Not often I'd say. It sounds like at least there's a change from the norm with Aodhan. It sounds like it doesn't work to draw you in, which isn't surprising since an author would likely stick with the tried and true methods to get people to like the story. Even so, I still feel like giving Knaak some praise for not being afraid to break the formula. Now speaking of Aodhan and how he's not very memorable, maybe we should consider that a good thing. Yes there was the near destruction of Dalaran that never happened in-game; leaving important story lines out like that is frustrating. But, at the same time, it's good that the story didn't have much of a lasting effect and that Aodhan was forgettable.Do we really need yet another character plugged into WoW that has an insufficient amount of explanation? I'm thankful that he seems to be fading away after this story. I could be wrong and find out that he is inserted in as some random NPC in Cataclysm, but I'm doubtful on that happening based on the way you've explained his significance. And I'd like to add one last thing: I do realize that maybe Knaak didn't intentionally "break the formula" with Aodhan on purpose and that it's possible that it was bad writing on his part. If that is so, I would have to take back the praise.

@ Sharvis"How often do you get a main character that isn't a hero?"I originally brought this up because I was going to disagree with you, but upon reflection, my favorite of the Warcraft Legend stories were the Pirate and Andorhal farmer stories, both ultimately about redshirt npcs. So you might have a point with where interest might lie.

You do have a point - but really what I would've liked to have seen was one of the minor characters that already exist get a little more story added to them, like Death Knight did with Thassarian and Koltira.

Of course his pet character is going to get put into the game.
