Update 6:29 p.m. EDT: The opening of Ruby Sanctum might be a bug, but nonetheless, it's up and running. We have staff who are running it both on normal and heroic mode on the live servers. Blizzard is being coy about it, so who knows ... either way, the boss is up and can be engaged right now.
Update 6:39 p.m. EDT: Nethaera confirms that this isn't a bug: Ruby Sanctum is open, despite several battlegroups being down for another day.

And there was me thinking Blizzard were past this kind of stupid mistake. I'm not a Blizzard hater by any means, but I am a raider on an EU realm (that just went down for 12hrs maintenance along with all the other EU realms) and this is a pretty big PR disaster. They can paint it how they want or pretend it was intentional or whatever, but the bottom line is they've pissed off a LOT of people here that up until now had NO OTHER REASON to not like them. This is a very good way to piss off exactly the WRONG kind of people Blizzard, i.e. your loyal raiding player-base that has done nothing but sing your praises for the last few years. Thanks.

Based on what I'm seeing, I think the opening was an accident and this is how Blizzard is dealing with it. They were coy at first because they were examining their options, and when somebody said, "we'd have to apply another patch to revert it," they decided, "Okay, nevermind, let's just roll with this." There's no logic in them opening it today, based on the logic behind them NOT opening last week.
Either Blizzard is just stupid -- which would be a pretty interesting dichotomy: one of the most successful developers in the world is also the world's dumbest -- or they made a mistake and this is how they're dealing with it.
That's how it looks to me.

IDK how I feel about it. I am one of those that is still sitting out when I could be trying to down a world first. As the flames roll in do you think they would do this to certain guilds that had a chance at downing it. There are guilds on my server with full squads in 277 gear. 25 and 10 man. I would think they might have a shot if their realm was up.

On the bright side, you don't have to deal with lag, crashes and the door boss that pops up every patch. Tomorrow when you log on, it will all be taken care of.

You know, delaying the release of RS so it can be available to everyone in the same week, that I can see on the "outside looking in" front, that makes sense.
This 24 hour disparity just continues the general trend I've seen from blizzard that the community's self-imposed catastrophicly weighted world first
race isn't an intended attitude blizzard envisions within their game. Yes the achievements exist, but I don't believe they're intended to carry the weight theat the community puts on them.
A day won't kill you, and if it will, maybe you're playing the wrong game. Whether that means something other than WoW, or some other aspect of WoW.
PvP is competitive, PvE is co-operative.
Just my opinion, I'm sure others will disagree.

Great point - RS is availiable to all regions in the same time period. Internally in wow a raiding period is Tues - Mon, and EVERYONE will be able to raid RS within that time period.
I would say that Blizzard has 100% delivered on their promise on making the instance availiable to everyone at the same time.

The funniest part about all this is many if not most of the people crying the hardest about this will be bored of Ruby Sanctum within the next month and start complaining about: how EZ mode it is/the loot sucks/it's just Ony 2.0/when the eff is the Cataclysm beta.

Eh, I just want the 20 Burning Blossoms I've lost during the downtime. Gilneas went offline at the time the dailies usually reset (4 AM server), which means it probably won't come up until they will have reset again. Not even going to started on having missed one of the 14 daily chances to get a ~3% drop from Frost Lord Ahune.

Blizz must have the summer interns on patch duty. The more competent folks are apparently focused on Cataclysm and/or their next MMO. Best we all expect more stupid between now and then.
