If you've been thinking about rolling one of the new class/race combinations, but haven't really been impressed by the ones they announced a ways back, you may be in luck.
Lead systems designer Ghostcrawler has confirmed that
troll and dwarf warlocks will be coming with Cataclysm.
There's no word yet on the lore behind this change, but between
Zalazane on the troll side and the
Dark Irons on the dwarf side, it seems likely there's good enough reason to unlock the class. Now if only we could get them to give us Worgen paladins, we'd really be cooking. Stay tuned to WoW.com, there's more juicy
Cataclysm info to come.

Are you just looking for a reason to whine? If so.
Treasure Finding.
That is all.

?
What does this alleged "nerfing of the undead" (whatever it may be) have to do with dwarven and trollish warlocks?
Drakkenfyre Jul 1st 2010 1:27AM
You got the best damn PVP racial in the game for years. Now you don't. Live with it.

Actually, I've seen a troll NPC as just every class except Paladins in game. They really are a diverse bunch.

YAY! A race alliance side that I'll be able to handle playing as a warlock :D

Gnome Paladins = Order of the Tiny Silver Hand
Valt Jul 1st 2010 6:43AM
@xoxotl
More like
"Order of tiny silverplated Tinheads"
.. what? Its engineering thing..you wouldnt understand.

I would support The Order of the Little Silver Hand. Only if it was actually pronounced Widdle, and not little.
shadcroly Jul 1st 2010 12:10AM
Worgen Paladins would be kick ass. Too bad though that they hit the apparent "8 classes per race" limit.
Cephas Jul 1st 2010 12:14AM
This warlock change gives trolls and dwarves 9 classes each.

Very interesting. Definitely did not see that coming. Believes that leaves Tauren as the only Horde race who can't be warlocks. Not that a Tauren warlock would make any sense at all.
I wonder if any other new classes are in the cards. It doesn't really address the issue that Horde will have one more race/class combo than the Alliance. It's far from a game imbalancing problem, but it does feel a little strange.
I doubt we'd see any more lock races added, but that does leave rogues as the only class to get no new races, other than the newly introduced Worgen and Goblins. The guy who started that thread was advocating for Draenei rogues, which I can certainly see happening. Female draenei are already pretty lithe, and with male orcs going around being rogues, it's not likely only the dainty can hide in the shadows. I support Draenei rogues.
Adding another Paladin seems like the only other option, so your options are either adding that option for Night Elves (weird) or Gnomes (adorable), or giving them to Worgen. But that raises the problem that that'd give Worgen one more option than Goblins, and Blizz wants to keep those even. Otherwise, you could take an option away from the Worgen, but that could be bad too. Let's say you took away their ability to be warlocks; it could certainly work from a lore perspective, but I'd hate to be someone who'd been waiting for Cataclysm mainly to be a werewolf who summons demons.
If Blizz wants to keep the race/class numbers even across the factions (and I don't know if they do, I believe a blue post once said they didn't really care), I have to say Draenei rogue might be the best option.
themightysven Jul 1st 2010 12:22AM
how about draenei and tauren rogues, and draenei warlocks?
Horns and hooves...
Sharvis Jul 1st 2010 12:26AM
I agree, I'd like to see an equal amount for both factions. It's a shame too that Draenei get nothing new... even though apparently there's a Draenei NPC mentioned in that thread that uses rogue abilities. To me rogue is at least the one they could implement. Explain it as some new fancy footwork (hoofwork) they came up with or whip up some of that advanced Draenei technology to quiet the noise they'd make walking.
Cyanea Jul 1st 2010 12:32AM
The second they make Draenei rogues is the second I roll one. Hot chick with hooves that can stealth and stab? Fuck yeah.
Raithvin Jul 1st 2010 12:33AM
Part of the reason why Draenei and Tauren cant be Rogues is'nt just down to their size, it's the race's beleifs.
Hiding, backstabbing, poisons etc, are'nt really things the two (arguabley) "good" races would condone, let alone practice themselves.
Cyanea Jul 1st 2010 12:38AM
Orc males can be rogues, and they're just as big as Draenei males.
