Why would a warlock ever use their summoning ability when someone can just use Have Group, Will Travel? Just seems a bit of a kick in the teeth to lose an iconic bit of utility.

Because for Warlocks there is no "2 hour cooldown", perhaps?

Hey, i played a SPriest in BC. How do you think I felt with wrath came out.
Also, it's a 2 hour cool down. It will only be used the beginning of raids to get everyone there quickly. You'll still get to use your summons for replacements and stragglers.

I assume Have Group, Will Travel will only work on guildmates, so if you are in a PUG or have some non-guildies in the run it will still be of use.

Yeah, no doubt this will cause all the warlocks to reroll as mages.

Besides the CD, this also doesn't apply for PUGs, I would think.

You have to remember that the new raiding paradigm is 3 small 6-boss raids, rather than one big one. This ability isn't focused on getting one or two people to a place, it's for dealing with that annoying time between raids that we saw in TBC.
You know, when you finished Gruul and everyone said they were flying to Mag but they were really AFK for the flight and you realized 10 minutes later that you were the only person at the stone, 6 people were AFK at Thrallmar, 2 were capping towers in HFP or Terrokar, 3 were farming mats who-knows-where and the rest were AFK and still in Gruul's Lair?
That's what this spell is for. Locks will have an important role in pulling in subs and the like.

Apparently people don't remember when summoning stones were meeting stones. I don't think any lock rolls so that they can summon people. I almost wish I didn't have it so people would stop asking me for it. Same with mage food.

YA, right on man! How dare they taking away the need for us to abuse warlock shards! And while we're at it lets get rid of those pesky summoning stones too! They've been encroaching the need to bring a warlock to raid for too long now!

You are lamenting a slight bit of competition to your ability to summon people? Don't most warlocks get sick of random fools pestering them for a summon? I know on my mage, I get sick of port requests
