No Cataclysm beta invites have been sent out yet

The initial wave of Cataclysm beta invites have not gone out yet, according to a new blue CM named Lylirra. She does say that it would be wise to check the email your battle.net account is under within the next 24 hours. Take that for what you will; these waves of invites have been known to get pushed back.

We're still in the process of selecting accounts and ensuring that they're properly flagged for beta access. We've not yet sent out any invitation emails, though. So, you may want to check your registered email address periodically during the next 24 hours to see if you've been invited to the Cataclysm beta, or simply keep an eye on the "Manage My Games" section of your Battle.net Account Management page (https://us.battle.net/account). If you've been selected to participate, you'll definitely be notified in one of those two areas.

We all hope for an invite... But you would have to be SERIOUSLY lucky to get one.

I know. Which, sadly, is bad for me. I'm part Murphy. Bad luck runs in the family. Of course I'm also part Irish... maybe the luck of the Irich will get rid of Murphy's Law? .>

Oh man. I hope Blizzard's servers don't get pounded now be people checking and rechecking their Manage My Games. lol I just did and that website (as opposed to the forums and worldofwarcraft.com) seemed /really/ slow loading.

my question is whether or not u have to have an active wow account to get in. i know its probably a yes, but im kinda hoping its a nonfactor since i had to let my account die a few weeks ago to help save cash for vacation and i would hate if that screwed me out of yet another beta(my computer was bricked around the time of Wrath's)
