Breakfast topic: Streaks!

The game itself keeps track of a variety of streaks and other interesting stats. Just to spice things up for a bit, I like to think of odd little streaks that we have going on in my guild and in my raids. I wish more odd things like that would get tracked. There are both good streaks and bad streaks. Some good streaks would be like going 9 straight weeks on a boss without wiping. Another would be going 5 straight weeks where a Zod's Repeating Longbow dropped. We only had 3 hunters at t he time who could really use it. But there are bad streaks which I'm not proud of. Try going 9 weeks without seeing a Deathbringer's Will or going 4 weeks where someone gets mind controlled during the Blood Queen encounter. That stuff drives me to tears.

What about you? What sort of crazy streaks have you witnessed or been a part of?

I had a three week streak doing my cooking daily where I had an extra award in the bag. It was amusing.

Our guild did Karazhan for a year or more since that's all there was to do in those days, and the plate tanking bracers off Attumen never. Dropped. Once. When they finally did, we'd started running with our alts and our warrior tank didn't get them.

That same warrior tank friend ran heroic SV at least enough to get exalted with cenarion expedition twice over, and he only saw the devilshark cape once... on his warlock.

Poor bastard.

I've been attempting to PuG Eye Of Eternity since about Ulduar dropped on my shaman. No dice. Streak of about... 30?

Four Frostscythes. FOUR.

The first one I got was an upgrade, so I enchanted and equipped it. The next day, boom, frostscythe. I couldn't loot it from the bag to vendor it (it's unique), so I threw the whole thing (bag and all) into the bank. Fortunately, I got a better staff in ICC later that week, so I could vendor the enchanted one and keep the new one for fun. Then, the next day, boom, another Frostscythe. I got my fourth yesterday. Once Midsummer's over, I'll probably throw an vanity enchant on the last one I got. It looks cool, even on an orc. Or my troll warrior. I'm tempted to respect into Arms just so I can bladestorm a Frostscythe in the AH while I'm waiting for queues to pop.

On the other hand, none of my three toons I've been running through Ahune has yet to see a chip. 3 characters per day (1 heal, 1 tank, 1 DPS), no pet. I'm hoping for it on my tank or DPS as my healer uses (and will always use) Egbert. The other guys are still looking for their permanent companion.

Since the dungeon finder came out I have had a streak of not getting a resto item in the Satchel of Helpful Goods until this week.

5 weeks (or more) of the same ICC save lockout streak stuck in Arthas. We've been trying him since the 15% buff to the actual one (lately only 2 times a week). Good news is we have arrived to the third phase.

I keep hearing about guilds doing this, and it makes no sense to me.
Why would you extend a lockout on the last boss for that long?
If you can't get one of the previous bosses (Sindragosa is the usual culprit) down consistently, why bother trying LK?
And if you can get all of the previous bosses down consistently, why extend the lockout and lock yourselves out of gear (or just badges if everyone in the raid already has BiS gear from every boss in ICC)?

I just don't get that 'strategy.' It seems self-defeating.

Because at this point, a consistant 10 or even 25 man team who has been running pretty frequently and hasn't downed LK yet probably doesn't need a lot of gear. My 10 man group rarely uses a piece of gear anymore, I'd say 90% of the gear goes to waste and badges are kind of useless when you've gotten all the pieces you'll use.

Plus, my guild only runs a couple hours a week, so if we didn't chain extend-lockouts, then we'd never get back to LK to put any attempts on him.

From my experience wiping on LK 25 for the last 3 to 4 weeks gear isn't the issue, everyone in my guild is fairly geared, and most nights tier tokens go to offsets! It's really about getting people to knowhathefucktodo! No amount of gear is going to save you from standing in defile.

Plus there's that whole 25% buff thing, and knowing people got him down with no buff and in worse gear than us just means that we just need to learn the encounter, not stock up on more useless gear.

I've now had 6 weeks of ICC 10 and 25 man without a single plate, weapon or shield tanking drop to roll on.

30 straight weeks of ICC10 both in regular and heroic - never have seen Marrowgar's Scratching Choker (from Lord Marrowgar) or Whispering Fanged Skull (from Lady Deathwhisper).

I've managed to see the skull drop twice now, but the choker has only dropped once and I've *never* seen the bracers drop off of Saurfang and I've killed him *every* raid dropout since December. I'm not really that upset since I have every other item I want from ICC 10 for my tanky set but yeah, it's sort of funny how that one item just refuses to drop. I'm holding out hope that the heroic version drops now that we're working on it! It'd be a nice payoff after all the months of teasing. :D
