Nixxiom and Erunno have a series of hilarious shorts called Not All Roleplay is Serious. They're pretty awesome, and you can usually find them over at Myndflame. One of my favorites, though, is Not All Roleplay is Serious - Episode 3: 1N 3D. It's a very short video, clocking in at a minute and ten seconds.
I've missed out on most of the 3D craze hitting mainstream movies. The glasses just give me a horrible headache. So while all of you folks are out rocking to Avatar in eye-popping 3D, I wait for it come out in DVD. So I was totally cheering for Nixxiom and Erunno when the deer paused, looked to the screen, and told us to pop on our glasses now. (This does mean I don't know if that 3D method worked.)
Keep an eye out for further NARIS episodes. It's great stuff, and Nixxiom and Erunno are two of the best machinimators out there. You can't go wrong.

As somebody who has actually tried nVidia's 3D with the red/blue glasses - they're pretty problematic, and eventually I quit playing with them. And after you use them, you end up with an "afterimage" for a while (close one eye, everything has a shade of red, close the other, everything has a shade of blue) . Amusing, but doesn't help while you wait for your eyes to recover.
However: After watching movies with the new realD 3D - I think they actually have nailed the 3D with the new circularly polarized filters. I like the new 3D tech that the theaters are using. It has far less issues than the 3D technologies they've tried in the past. I guess some people still get headaches, but I watched a full length movie with no problems.
. . . and the 3D in that short clip is pretty horribly done. I actually went ahead and grabbed my pair of red/blues and tried it. And you'll notice that the arrow actually splits up into THREE images at the end (red, white, and blue) - ouch, not the way red/blue tech works, sorry. Makes the ghosting worse and ruins the effect.
One of the biggest issues with red/blue is the filters. If they don't filter out every color perfectly (and I've never encountered one that does), then you got pretty obvious ghosting, especially if an object gets really close to the viewer. And they cut down the brightness quite a bit. And the filtering of the colors is gonna be obvious no matter how they blend the colors. Red/blue may be cheap and easy to implement, but it's one of the worst.
You people really don't understand jokes do you...
The effect doesn't work at all. If you'd knew ANYTHING about "3D" you could see that the effect is fake from miles away. Then why did we do it?
It's kind of a satire on the machinima community and some of their silly ideas of "improvement" that they have every once in a while. Like custom 3D animation which was very popular a year or two ago and everyone "cool" had to use it. Some of the machinimators I know, regret the use of it now, however they still like the idea of completely custom 3D movies.
