Reminder: Midsummer Fire Festival ends today

The Fireworks Spectacular begins just after sunset ... wait. Since when does the sun set at 6 a.m.? Well, according to the in-game calendar, fireworks will be going off hourly in all capital cities and Booty Bay, starting at 6 a.m. realm time or sunset. Apparently.
So go forth and get all of your Midsummer achievements done. Or just soak up the massive XP, gold and buffs. After all, the next official in-game holiday isn't until September.
Shameless plug: <It came from the Blog> will continue to run events at least once a month, whether there is an official holiday or not.

Though I enjoyed this festival, let's just say that I would have enjoyed it a whole lot more had I been able to complete the EOTS component of the Childrens Week meta a while back. That and this achieve was all I needed. Sigh, another year to wait for my purple dragon *shakes fist*
I guess I still had fun though. It was fun revisiting all the old zones, knowing that they will be changed in Cata.

I saw this event as a fond farewell to old Azeroth. Even though it's not going anywhere for a while, it's the last chance most people will take to visit it.

Yeah I took loads of screenshots along the way. It will be sad to say goodbye to old Azeroth after 5years, but then again I'm really excited to see the changes!

Agreed - riding around the old world and seeing all the familiar places for what's probably the last time was great. It added some interesting flavor to the holiday.
One of my friends wondered if the Fire Festival will be the same post-Cataclysm, because people might not feel the same about lighting huge fires, what with the lava and all. I told her that Brewfest will probably be the same or bigger, since people will have even more reason to drink. *grin*

Also, one last chance to get that ****ing pet. I've hit the Frost Lord twice a day, once on two characters a day, and have yet to receive a pet. Meanwhile, I've had people in group destroy the pet because they found their third or forth while hunting the staff. It's just a bit frustrating. I wish the pet was tradeable in group.

Been doing ahune for friend for whole week for about 2 hours each day atleast.
And the tank cloak never dropped..hes starting to feel there isnt even one. And naturally when I didnt go with him it dropped. I've seen it 2 times and the spirit or haste cloak dropped 90% of the time.
Also got scythe. Saddest thing about the event was that I had tons of alts that could get into slave pens but since its 78 only now.. meh, I was waiting on the title to my alt from last year when it wasnt slave pen material :/

Lost count of how many times I killed Ahune with my DK and never saw the tank cloak drop. Finally gave up since tanking is my OS.
But I did get the pet on my main the last day :)

yeah. i have yet to get the pet on a character I care about (my main). I've gotten TWO on a character - and even gotten the staff on my main (who is a rogue who can't use it). Meanwhile, my 3 non-important 80 caster alts still don't have it. :(

Yeah same here. I got 3(!) pets on my druid alt that has no other pets and doesn't care for them, and no staff drop which would be an upgrade for it. Meanwhile on my warrior that collects pets (80+ atm) i havn't had the pet drop but i have the stupid stave.

Six 80s, and have done the event on every one of them every day I could except one because I was part of the 24 hr maintenance. I have 5 staffs and 0 pets. Total stupidity, here I was hoping this way would get the pet easier this way, now it seems like it will not happen.

14 days, no pet, no scythe. I know all about rng, but I still can't help but hate it down to my very essence.

It's funny...once I stopped caring about getting either the pet or the scythe, both dropped for the toon that wanted them both. I just kept running Ahune for the two free Frost emblems.
You can try to convince me that the RNG isn't truly a God and can't read minds. I won't accept it.
BTW: Robin, thanks so much for running the IcftB Realm Maintenance party. It was a blast until the Alliance showed up. :P Parties like these make me wish I had a max-level hunter or druid on Zangarmarsh. I really don't like playing DKs.

Well, waiting in the queue for my last chance at the pet. My pet collector (111 pets) is going to be mighty-annoyed if she doesn't get the pet. I guess I at least have the scorchling from years past.

Meh. I haven't bothered with the cheesements this year (I can't be bothered to care about the purple drake anymore... @#$%ing stupid Hard Knocks) but I ran Ahune every day on 7 toons. Never got the pet on my main, but I got 2 scythes, plus one each for my pally, DK and hunter. Go figure.

Had a lot of fun this year, got to visit the old world twice... enough to get the awesome brazier on two characters. Also, the ribbon pole xp boosts were great for simultaneously leveling two toons to 80 (currently one 70 and one 72, not dual-boxing, just switching between them every couple of levels)...
Also have an entire tab (personal guild bank) full of sparklers now... they're great for a quick 10-20g apiece selling to bank alts once they're out of season!

Got the scythe on a character I can't use it with. Didn't get the pet.
My buddy who wanted the scythe got the pet, didn't get the scythe.
Soulbound is stupid.
