Blizzard's responses on the Real ID situation

We provide all three responses after the break.
If you're interested in contributing to the discussion on Blizzard's forums, you may do so at the 11,000+ thread. Don't create a new thread though, it'll just be locked. And try not to fall into the trap of responding too harshly... Blizzard has been banning a lot of people today.

Will the Real-ID opt-out that we can set for our children's account also keep them from posting on the forums?

You will be able to set up Parental Controls to disallow a minor from posting.
DryscOne important point which I don't believe has been relayed yet is that the switch to showing RealID on the forums will only happen with the new forum systems we're launching for StarCraft II shortly before its release, and a new forum system for World of Warcraft launching shortly before the release of Cataclysm.
All posts here on the current World of Warcraft forums, or any of our classic Battle.net forums, will remain as-is. They won't (and can't) automatically switch to showing a real first and last name.
All posts in the future on the new forum systems will be an opt-in choice and ample warning will be given that you're posting with your real first and last name.

NethaeraJust to respond to those that don't think we read through all of these responses and threads, we do and have been. We will continue monitoring feedback as well.
We put a lot of thought into this change and have a long-term vision for the Real ID service and wanted to make sure that we communicated ahead of time and very clearly as to what will be changing and how. Keep in mind that posting is optional, and we recognize that some players will choose not to utilize the Real ID feature in game or post on the forums and support everyone's individual choice on using or not using it.
This is obviously new ground for us and for you as well, but we want to make sure we're creating a great social-gaming service that people will want to use. We just want to make sure that if people are sharing feedback, that they keep it constructive, and yes, as I said, we are reading.

@B
I'm not afraid to post my real name... and my address is something I try to keep private as a lot of other stuff... That's why I don't have much info on social network sites like Facebook and the likes. My name is Dick van der Velde, so looks like I have balls then, you got em? Don't really need to know your name, since discussions with you apparently degrade to namecalling anyway. That's exactly the reason I welcome the display of names on the forums. For people like you that are just trolling but can't make a point in an argument. Just taking position not knowing why. Sad about that. It's a dark day for freedom of speech if you have to worry about expressing a formulated opinion.
So, you just keep bashing people like me from behind that veil of anonimity. But you are only proving the point for the things that Blizz is intent on implementing.

I've already seen the cancellations begin. Our guild of 39 accounts has lost 2 so far. Yeah, that's just two. But, people ARE actually quitting over this.
I don't blame them.

I can't believe these posters saying 'what is the big deal with seeing your real name, what can anyone do with that'. I'm guessing you must be people who don't have any sort of professional profile.
I just Googled myself and the very first hit was my work phone number and email address. That is a website put up by the company I work for, that I have no control over.
So do I have a problem that by posting on the forums, someone can get my email address and phone number in 30 seconds? Yes I have a huge problem with that! This is a game, I don't see why this should cross over into my personal life whatsoever.
And for those saying 'just don't post on the forums', what if I need tech support? So suddenly I don't even have the right to tech support for a game I pay for by the month without compromising my identity?

They are taking it out. The uber thread just locked with new Blue Thread announcing that we will not have to use our real ID on the forums. Although they add they wish to continue to find ways to make the forums accessible and welcoming to all players.
