The problem is that people will basically not think more before they post.In my area we have a "local" kind of Facebook site. You should see the shit that's being posted in the forums there, ranging from simply stupid to verbal harrassments about other people's opinions and so on. And the best thing is that you can automatically associate the poster with his account and thus (if he shows this info) know his name, know where he lives and so forth. That's why I usually express my opinion in a moderate way, but it also shows that most ppl don't rly care about that.
