yeah, I miss old style leveling when it took longer and I died more. Now I take quests and they go green before I can complete them. Plus, it just seems wrong to take on 4 npcs three levels above and survive (as a priest!)- they have made it too easy.
It does seem once you hit level 80 its all about "shopping", running instances for loot, people squabbling over drops and bragging their Recount stats while doing their best to shame others. Maybe I am missing something? It just seems shallow and materialistic.
So, like you, I am leveling toons. I think the beginning area of Exodar/ Bloodmyst goes fastest to get to 20.

Perhaps this isn't the blog to say this, but if you want a change of pace leveling maybe try Lord of the Rings Online? I'm just trying the free 10 day trial before it goes free to play in the autumn, and leveling in it is hard - I'm spending half of my time dead (though it could just be because I'm terribad at LotRO)! Good times! I've done my fair share of leveling alts in WoW and am frankly burnt out with it at the moment - especially as I know I'll probably level a new one in Cat to check out all the new quests etc.

I'm enjoying AoC leveling as an alternative to wow...Also, rolled a few on the other faction so I could try their quests...
