I'm pretty sure he is, but space goat lore figures are easy to forget.
If I'm understanding it
Sylvanas=hunter
Thrall=shaman
Voljin.....?
Cairne= warrior?
Elf dude=something, but no one cares about him unless they want to kill him.
Varion=warrior
Velen=priest
Tyrande=either hunter or priest
Gnome dude= forsaken meal
Magni= Not enough screentime. Also, I think warrior.
Now if you want to go smaller....
Nelf bastard....Staghelm?=druid
Varimathras=warlock probably
Two people with belf dude= a belf can say.
Bolvar= Pretty sure warrior, but maybe pally.
Neutral though you get these.
Darion Mograine= Death Knight
Tirion Fordring= Paladin
Rhonin= Knackian Lorekiller
Nexus-prince Haramad=Mage who needs to come back in cat
Out of the main guys the class it seems doesn't have any major lore figures who people will accept are the mages. But out of the Horde and alliance we have no paladins, no locks, no mages, no druids, no death knights, and no rogues.(unless one of the people I'm too lazy to check are the above.

@Teron: loltastic, but Vol'jin's a Shadow Hunter. It's an old hero class of the sort that got pilfered for its abilities, which got spread among several classes in WoW. The closest equivalent in WoW would probably be a Shaman, since they can Hex and Chain Heal; it's just that instead of dealing with the Elemental spirits for their powers, they deal with the Loa. But they do have hunter-ish abilities too (minus the pet).
Actually, think of them as Hunters that couldn't stay away from da voodoo.

Yea, it's better to consider the faction leaders as the old classes rather than restricted to the wow ones.
Sylvanas for example is a dark ranger, not just a hunter. She can blink and use a lot of magic abilities that really aren't associated with hunters.
Velen is a priest.
Tyrande is a priestess of the moon.
The old classes are much more dynamic than the current, though they're probably impossible to balance. However, faction leaders don't need to play by the rules.

Tyrande's *title* is High Priestess of Elune. In WoW her abilities are a bizarre mix of the balance druid (starfall and moonfire), hunter (searing arrow) and warrior (cleave). In WC3 she was the super-Sentinel hero unit, riding about on a giant tiger in full plate and slinging her warglaive at things. For some reason she's been nerfed to the ground in WoW. I blame Knaak.

The oddness with Tyrande stems from her really wierd background. The Sisters of Elune (of which, according to War of the Ancients, she was a standard member) trained for war with standard weapons - bow, sword, warglaive, etc. That accounts for some of her abilities. Others she possesses due to Elune's favor - Starfall, primarily, which is used by balance druids for the same reason. Lorewise, it would likely be more accurate to say that boomkin are not "casting" starfall, they are more calling upon Elune to intervene and do insane levels of DPS. She (sort of) is to hunters as paladins are to warriors; same basic idea, but add in god-given powers for extra OPness.
She's just one more case where WC3 Abilities were split - the shadow hunter, the tauren chieftain, the watcher, and more all had their abilities distributed to a variety of classes.
