Ghostcrawler -- Is Forbearance going to be re-evaluated?
Ghostcrawler -- Hunter abilities in CataclysmChimera vs. Arcane – Chimera should have a higher DPCT/damage than Arcane as a tradeoff for having a cooldown. You should be casting Chimera before Arcane in any situation where it's not on cooldown. There numbers may not be tuned quite right yet.
Serpent Sting – You'll find it's not efficient to cast your damage-over-time on targets that die before Serpent Sting lasts the full duration. This is similar to other classes. Druids don't use all of their bleeds on targets that die in 8 seconds; it's just not efficient. Chimera refreshing Serpent Sting is a bonus for fights that take longer, like boss fights or "epic" creatures. It isn't factored into the "budget" of the ability, so don't feel like you wasted a Chimera just because you couldn't utilize the "refresh Serpent Sting" mechanic.
Tranq Shot – We want this to have a focus cost. There may be opportunities where you want to use two Tranqs in a row, and it's your decision if you want to do that or not. I think most Hunters dislike it having a focus cost because they feel their raid leaders may mandate them to dispel something on an encounter, and because they have to spend focus it sucks because you lose DPS. That's legitimate, but also the same kind of decision that a lot of other classes have to make.
Venoms – We hear you on some of their issues. We might try things like giving them some damage, reducing the focus cost, and / or have them last 5 minutes on PvE creatures. Again, shooting a Venom isn't really ideal on targets that you kill quickly. You shouldn't cast one on every trash mob, for example. That said, we don't want them to become too "maintenance-y" on boss fights.
Aspects – We would like Aspect of the Fox to be as good as it can be, which we feel is 30%. Any higher than that and we lose the Steady Shot focus-generating gameplay. It seems that some hunters are, not surprisingly, somewhat turned off from doing less damage while moving as they are on live, but this is intended. A ranged class that can do almost as much damage moving as it can standing still is not going to be fair, and often is what restricts us from doing cool things with the class.
Trap Launcher – We'd like to take it off the GCD.

Ghostcrawler -- Paladins healing the raidI'm exaggerating slightly here, but our LK model for Holy paladins was that they could only do one thing well so they might as well be overpowered at it. We could essentially just balance incoming tank damage around outgoing paladin healing. The paladin niche was very small, so if they weren't good at single target and mostly tank healing, they'd be replaced. Yet because it was small, there wasn't much risk of overstacking them as healers.
That model worked okay but it ultimately wasn't what we wanted, so we're going to change it in Cataclysm as much as we can without all of the healers playing identically. You should feel more comfortable having a paladin heal the raid and a druid heal the tank than most groups typically do now.

Grimiku -- Do blues call each other by aliases at work?
Zarhym -- The nature of changeIf there's one lesson I've been struggling with a lot recently, it's that rejecting the nature of change can be damaging. Granted, the trials to which I'm referring aren't related to video games, though they still apply universally. Sure, places will change, new questlines will replace many old ones, and Azeroth will never look quite the same again. There are, however, new places of beauty, new adventures to be had, and new struggles to overcome in the wake of change. A brand new player joining us in Cataclysm won't know quite what it was like to level prior to Deathwing's return, but they'll get to experience all of the new wonders of the world, not to mention a design that's become more definitive and polished over the years.

Here I show my noobness: what does DCPT stand for?
I have wracked my mind, and I cannot seem to make out words to this (that make sense anyway...)
To all who respond with what it means, thanks.

Perhaps damage per cast-time? (it was DPCT, mind you)
Sleutel Jul 12th 2010 10:29PM
Dirty Panty Cleaning Timer.
Trust me, you don't want further clarification.
dracoamericanus9 Jul 12th 2010 11:22PM
I'm thinking it's damage per cooldown timer, though damage per cast time works too.

Damage per cast time
Also called
Damage per execute (time)
Damage per time casting
and probably a dozen other things.
It means how much damage an ability does in the time you can't be doing something else. For a nuke it is the same as dps but for a dot it's very different.

Don't you mean totem?

OK, thanks all, I thought it was something to that extent, but I could not figure out the exact wording of acronym.

When I see posts like Zarhym's I get real tempted to just wipe my toons and re-roll once cata is released.
With the way hunters are changing and having missed so much dungeon and raid content leveling her up, also since the dungeon finder won't let you do dungeons below your level range( WHICH SUCKS BLIZZ!) It's so tempting to re-roll my main fresh.
Yeah its a lot of time, money for server transfers, and earned rewards/titles down the tubes, but it's just so tempting.

Agreed and then some. I have a level 73 hunter who has a pet that I got up at 5AM to get - Uhk'loc, the white gorilla - and who also has the Explorer title. Thing is, though, I'm converting her into a bank alt and then getting rid of her entirely once Cataclysm hits, because the new hunter experience is going to be so very different. Yeah, it sucks to lose all that work, especially because I leveled her up mostly before WotLK even hit, but it wouldn't be the same to suddenly have to switch.
And besides, I'll now be hunting as a male draenei, and BM is pretty much the machine gun spec in Cata. It's a good time to be a hunter. ^_^

I have so considered the same thing.. but, she's got so much and I've been going back and soloing a bit of the lower dungeons. Hmm if her mining and skinning wasn't up there and if my alch (yeah she's a hunter also.. what can I say.. harvest while the pet fights ) didn't enjoy transmuting all the saronite she brings in .. -sigh- ehh maybe just a worgen hunter for the compromise.

"Ghostcrawler -- Is Forbearance going to be re-evaluated?
It will be reevaluated."
This so reminds me of a scene in "Kung Pow - Enter the Fist" in a flashback scene:
Guy 1: "Then, he told me of the significance."
~~ flashback animation ~~
Guy 2: "It will be significant."

I think that overall, Blizzard does an excellent job with WoW.
I do think though that the "Blues" need to face up to the fact that the "fix" of the vote to kick system now allows one person to hold the entire group hostage and creates far more potential for abuse than it eliminated . Simply running the numbers as they are punishes anyone who has had extremely bad luck with groups.
Further, and this may just be my experience, but the groups in general have gotten worse since the "fix". I and others (just take a look on line), think that as people now know they stand almost no chance of being kicked from a group, they are doing things that they would never have done before, like run in a spec they're not geared for, level weapons on everyone else's time while doing mega-low dps, or dpsing when they are in as a healer, and letting the tank die in the process.
I had all 3 of these things happen to me in about a 12-hour time frame overall. It honestly seems as though the "fix" has only empowered the inconsiderate, and given them carte blanche to behave as badly as they care to.
Again, given the quality generally provided by Blizzard, this is quite baffling.
