Required reading for this week's post: Setting an Incredibles standard for guild meetups

Synopsis <The Incredibles> of Boulderfist (US-A) sets the standard for designing WoW-themed guild meetups, with custom-designed collateral including an Oscars-style golden statuette volunteer award, picnic decorations, over-the-top publicity posters, game-themed menus -- even custom-designed, WoW-themed beer labels.

The Increddy

The highlight of <The Incredible>'s meetups is an Oscars-style golden statuette presented for outstanding guild service at the group's awards banquet. The Increddy, as it's known, is the handcrafted baby of guild master guild officer Theraven. The 2008 Increddy (seen in the video at the top of this post), was a kit-bash of about three WWF figures, customized with Sculpey facial hair and boots. "The bare-chested figure was an homage to the wacky, now-retired rogue Roosevelt, who was famous during vanilla days for going down to Booty Bay -- bare-chested and bald headed -- killing guards and ganking folks, regardless of level (and not just during festivals where the guards were drunk)," notes Theraven. It was presented to its winner in a box with custom graphics and an assortment of "pimpin' accessories:" black hat and zhevra vest, a microphone, laptop and cane.

The 2009 Increddy featured the guild's third GM, Saban, a moonkin. "This one was an extreme makeover of a Where The Wild Things Are figurine, Emil," Theraven explains. "It involved much Dremel work, wailing and gnashing of teeth, and a healthy dose of Sculpey. The feathers, extensions, antlers and hair on the back were all hand carved, bit by bit."

<The Incredibles> plans to hold off on the next Incredicon meetup until spring 2011. Theraven explains, "When we do get together, we can swap Cataclysm stories like, 'Where were you when it came out?' and 'Have you done this yet?' and either laugh or cry about city raids. Goofy geeky stuff like that, 'cause, you know, that's how we roll."
