MMO Roundup: Last week on Massively

Sometimes you'd like to know that there are other MMOs out there, right? It's not all WoW, all the time! Our sister site Massively can provide you with everything you need to know about all of the other MMOs around: past, present and future.
Official Star Wars: The Old Republic game testing announcement
Star Wars: The Old Republic has started game testing. SWTOR's Community Manager Sean Dahlberg made the announcement for this week's Fan Friday feature, stating that community assistance in testing the game is very important for gathering quality feedback.
SOE offers EverQuest II guild name changes for $55
Sony Online Entertainment has introduced a new item into their EverQuest II Station Cash Marketplace this week. For the princely sum of 5500 Station Cash (that's $55, for those of you counting at home), you can rename your guild while retaining your guild achievements and XP.
Changes to EVE Online's PLEX make it possible to loot game time
When it comes to fighting the gold-sellers, Icelandic game developer CCP Games took an innovative approach to the problem. Players of EVE Online can buy game time with cash and then trade it with other players as in-game "Pilots License EXtensions" (PLEX). This lets people with cash to spare effectively purchase ISK (EVE's equivalent of gold) from other players, while those with plenty of in-game ISK can effectively play for free. An upcoming update to the game offers the chance to move your PLEX to better in-game markets ... and also risk losing it.
Is Star Trek Online due for Turbine's business model?
Back in early June, Turbine surprised everyone -- for the second time in a year -- by announcing that Lord of the Rings Online would be moving to a free-to-play model akin to Dungeons and Dragons Online. It seems like a somewhat risky move on one level, but also quite understandable given the success the latter has enjoyed. Now we're hearing potential rumblings of another game heading in that direction -- specifically, from Star Trek Online's new Executive Producer Daniel Stahl.
Exclusive Allods Online IRC Q&A: Darren Allarde and Shelby Goad take on your questions
Recently Massively was able to get Darren "CHOMP" Allarde, associate producer of Allods Online, and Shelby "Miss_Sadie" Goad, the Allods Online community manager, from gPotato into the chat room and into the hotseat. The topic: Allods Online and their latest patch, Revelations of Gipat! Massively's editors fielded questions from the chat room audience and put the Allods team to the test.
Star Wars: The Old Republic impresses fans with combat AI
The staff at Bioware gave many players the chance to run through Star Wars: The Old Republic while the game was still in its alpha stage. Players have been detailing their reactions to The Old Republic's combat system and discussing the varying ways different types of mobs react to aggro. Will it run for cover before you even get a shot in? Will it look for friends to back it up? Will it watch you carefully and leave you alone, hoping you return the favor?
GamersFirst promoting anonymity in response to Blizzard's Real ID system
During Blizzard's Real ID fiasco, some companies were setting out to let World of Warcraft players know that not every company is looking to rid you of your anonymity. Executive director Tracy Spaight pulled no punches in a statement on the matter -- "It is an unwarranted intrusion to player privacy to force [players] to disclose their real world identity." The company is holding promotions across its many games until Aug. 9 with the promotional code StayAnonymous.
