They are not reinventing the wheel. There are still trees and points. A whole new system would not be something that could be explained by going "it is the same exact system, except you have smaller trees and less points". Was it wheel reinvention when each expansion changed trees and point totals? Same thing is happening here. If anything, this is closer to a regression to earlier WoW.
