It's really early and I can understand why people are not embracing Cataclysm. You need to keep in mind that skill trees really are not all that important, since the beginning they were so rigid that most successful builds look exactly the same with little variation. All warrior tanks had 1 or 2 different builds to pick from and maybe had 1-2 points free to customize your own character. It seems to me Blizzard has acknowledged this and is stripping down Talent Trees. It is unpopular, but let me ask this question...How many truly unique talent builds have you seen outside of player vs player for any spec?

I totally agree with you, there hasnt really been too much deviation in talents across players that are not in pvp, have to remember they are re-engineering the whole game and may add new glyphs and such. I dont see too much wrong with the talent trees really. Im sure blizzard will balance it out with trainers and new spells and such. The one thing i dont like too much is the tree form can only be used for 45 sec... that what made the resto druid so fun imo. What would make it different any other healer then really besides the fact of being HOT healers... I am glad that the 8% health druid class receives can finally be applied to prot pallys tho...
